Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada on Thursday (August 22) addressed criticisms of his handling of a committee hearing that included victims of sexual abuse as resource speakers.
The lawmaker had fielded questions to actor Sandro Muhlach and singer Gerald Santos during the August 19 probe of the Senate committee on public information and mass media.
His line of questioning, however, drew backlash for allegedly being insensitive.
In a press conference three days later, Estrada acknowledged the "public impression" of his conduct of the hearing, emphasizing it was not his intention to "victim blame or humiliate."
