I hope you have a fun vacation! I found that hiring a tutor in iTalki is much better than trying to talk to a language partner. They are experienced with talking to beginners and know how to say things on your level and ask questions that you will be able to answer. I actually just started conversation sessions last week after a 8 month break. I remember my first class a year ago was very painful but it got easier with each class. Good luck!

Thank you! It was wonderful 😊 I actually did a few italki lessons but my teacher wasn't able to match my language abilities unfortunately 😅 How's your teacher called? 😇

I used to take lessons with Michiru Fujimaki. I really like her! With the time zone difference I can't schedule with her anymore. 😢 I just stated lessons with Asako Higurashi.

I couldn't answer your question on your last video. But I couldn't take the JLPT test in July, but I'll take it in December. I'm almost finishing Genki II, so I'll have from August till December just to study textbooks focused on JLPT. I hope I can pass 😂 But I totally relate with the slump situation, because I took n5 in December, but then for 2 months I couldn't even touch anything related to Japanese 😂 and then I saw I passed and thought "it's time to study" but it was too close to July HAHAHA and people say that n3 is so much harder, there's a huge gap between n4 and n3. So it's important to keep studying.

Yes, I also heard about that gap 😅 Good luck with your studies 🍀

One thing that has helped me was realize, that especially grammar just takes a lot of input to click. Since you said you want to really cement N4 grammar before you move on to N3, I think its best to just read about what the grammar means once and then get a lot of input through reading/listening and eventually it will feel natural what it means and how to use it. I don't think you can actually just "memorize" it, you need to acquire it.

Yes, that's true. I just recently bought quite a lot of reading books in Thailand to also do that. I'll show them in next weeks video 😇

As I live in Japan currently and want to be able to speak at a conversational level before I leave in 2025 I am just continuing with JLPT N3 grammar book, immersion through anime, podcasts and movies and from the end of the month im going to subscribe to Satori reader. Also, I plan to take at least two 30 minute italki lessons per week (3 weeks a month). Lets go peeps!!! 😅❤

Wow, that's quite the plan. I'm not quite sure if I asked before but would you recommend your language school? 😊 Do you have any suggestions for a good italki teacher? The one I had lessons with talks to fast and uses vocab that's way too complicated 😅

@CelineJordan actually I'm self studying. I work as an ALT, so I have a lot of downtime compared to a lot of other jobs. I use Ken sensei (from Akita prefecture), a community teacher who is reasonably priced (his prices are increasing a bit, he said, though) and so patient. If you didn't understand a word, he talks around it or uses another word. He also sends notes on the conversation afterward. I am not a fan of talking in Japanese, but I'm comfortable with him.

Hey, fellow German? 😁 Thick accent just as me. I'm also waiting for the JLPT results. I'm in Language School in Japan though. Still I get study slumps, and especially speaking is scary here as well. Can 💯relate! Keep at it! 💪

Yes, I'm also German 😄 I can imagine speaking to Japanese people in Japan is quite scary... 😅 What language school are you going to? Would you recommend it?
