Most of these folks chose the easy route of blaming society that enabled casteism. It gives them easy access and audience. But how does it change anything for those who are still left behind. Talking about casteism experience which involves loss of excess to opportunity is more important then the issue of why people ask about cast still in 21st century. Conversation on cast is important but it’s critical that these folks do half of the work on the ground or stop using cast as launch pad for your product/service. And satire on cast is not restricted people who have cast experience.

I am a Dalit (Pasi). Usually, I don't talk about it, but it's important to mention it. Different people experience caste in different ways. I grew up in the city(Mumbai) and never knew about my caste or my friends' castes. We had friends from all castes, and we spent time together, enjoying parties and meals without asking about caste. However, things changed when I went to college. It was the upper-caste students who made me aware of my caste. Before you jump to conclusions, let me explain. These upper-caste students had supposedly "rejected" their own caste and wanted to fight for people like me. But during those 6-7 months, I felt like a victim and belittled more than ever before. Not because they treated me badly, but because they made me feel like I was at the lowest level and that they were going to save me. Feeling uncomfortable, I distanced myself from them and left their group. However, once I did that, I became the villain and was labelled as someone who supports the caste system. They only cared for me if I followed their ideas, and if I had a different opinion, they labelled me. I realized that caste cannot be defeated through movements that focus solely on Marxism, as they tend to portray others as villains. I couldn't see my friends (who I later found out belonged to the general caste) as my oppressors or villains. They and their families had always been kind to me, regardless of whether they knew about my caste or not. I still remember my mom used to work and after school, Singh aunty used to call me for lunch and i and my friend used to eat and watch tv while having lunch and play later till my mom came. A valuable lesson I learned is that if you discriminate against others, you create enemies. Treating everyone equally allows you to have allies. Lastly, hating and labelling others as villains just because they were born into a certain caste cannot solve any problems. IN FACT, it makes people who were flexible even more rigid. education, love and understanding is a slower process, but it works better.

Caste is everywhere. We usually limit caste only to direct untouchability/discrimination. Certain privileged caste groups have captured all the top Indian institutions, and then they transfer their privilege to their next gen and call it merit. Why is the majority of bollywood punjabi khatri? Why is majority of politics north west India jat dominated? Why most businesses owned by bania? When more than 95% marry within their own castes, these privileges are transferred from one caste kin to another, leaving dalits nowhere. Given the current situation, i dont see dalits as a group progressing to an OBC leave alone gen caste level even in the next 100 years.

Caste discrimination is rooted not in religion but culture. Caste was an ancient system of occupational class delineated in Hindu texts that over the years developed into a rigid social hierarchy. The lowest castes, or untouchables, were marginalized and faced persecution. Caste-based discrimination is not intrinsic to Hinduism and should not be thought of as religiously sanctioned. the poorer workers involved in 'unclean' occupations such as sweeping or leather work were historically segregated and banished outside the city limits. Over time, personal cleanliness came to be identified with "purity", and the concept of untouchability eventually spread to the rural areas. Manusmriti text was never implemented as a law code in ancient India. The caste system as it exists today is the result of developments during the rise of the British colonial government in India. The British Raj furthered this development, making rigid caste organisation a central mechanism of administration. By 1860 the British formulated the caste system into their system of governance, granting administrative jobs and senior appointments only to Christians and people belonging to certain castes.

Bro this victim mindset and destroying existing institutions of society while having no plans for how will society work afterward is an old socialist-communist dilemma. We've seen it in Russia and China and several Maoist-terrorist groups in India and Myanmar. They perceive the world as an oppressed-oppressor but have no end. They are protest-jivi living on creating new identities of victimhood. However, in theory, almost 99% of the world is the victim in one form or another. So at times some of these victims are made oppressors. After all, they need someone to fight against. Socialism or postmodernism for that matter any Western system fails to understand that it's an individual who is the oppressor in some aspects and oppressed in others and we need fundamental change at the individual level and not forming groups and fighting the alleged oppressor.

Hindu Caste is not linear it's varied ideology to control population. Savrna culture is build on caste . Dalit in India face caste based violance, killings, discrimination and segregation. Untouchability is practiced by all upper caste Hindus they want to preserve their caste purity and want to oppress humans on basis of Hindu caste line. Majority country population don't have time to waste on these things. The leftover oldie people who still follow these will diminish with time. It's within small rural minority only. In Hindu Dharma, especially birth based caste is a recent times colonial imposition, however Varna (Occupation) was the original one, in Varna there was no upper or lower, people chose the work of which they are qualified for, and according to Bhagavad Gita, anyone can be a Brahmin (Teacher, Scholar profession), Shatriya (Warrior, Army profession), Vaishya (Trader, Business profession), Shudra (Other social workers) based on as per their skills, knowledge, and capabilities: 🔹In Bhagavad Gita 4:13, Krishna says that he created different Varnas [Profession] on the basis of one's Karma [Activities] and Guna [Characteristics]. 🔹Bhagavad Gita 5:18 “The truly learned, with the eyes of divine knowledge, see with equal vision a Brahmin, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and a dog-eater” 🔹Bhagavad Gita 9:29 “I am equally disposed to all living entities: there is neither friend nor foe to Me: but those who with living sentiments render divotional service unto Me, such persons are in Me and I am in them.” 🔹Bhagavad Gita 18:41 “The duties of the Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras are distributed in accordance with their Guṇas [Characteristics]. (Nothing comes with the birth except some divine Characteristics). Caste is an English term derived from the Spanish term “Casta” which stands for 'Breed' or 'lineage'. During earlier times, “Caste” use to be Varna (Profession) and based on Guna (Characteristics) and not merely just by birth. Instances from the ancient times proves that a so-called modern day “lower caste” can educate oneself with knowledge and change their Varna (Profession) to “upper caste”, e.g., Guru Valmiki, Kabir Das were from a Shudra family but became a Brahmin based on Guna (Characteristics or Essence), Ravana and his younger brother Kumbhakarna were Brahmins (educated person) from Northern India but because of their notorious Karmas (activities) all were punished by Shri Rama (believed to be an OBC if we abide by today's caste categorization). Lastly, you have to understand the British motive behind imposing the caste system:- The Caucasians (Europeans) created Hutus and Tutsis in Rwanda, Africa, to divide and control the native population, and for this reason, the Rwanda Genocide occurred. The same attempts and inequalities Europeans also tried to create amongst Indians by separating Northern India and Southern India into “Aryans” VS “Dravidians” and further dividing Hinduism into 3,000 castes and 25,000 sub-castes. Read about Herbert Hope Risley who created casteism, racism in Indian society by one's facial features and skin color, and Bishop Robert Caldwell who coined the term “Dravidian” and propagated the “Aryan Invasion” in Southern India to convert Southern Indians into Christianity. 8:30, Guys as podcasters expected you guys to be wiser. Before running a reality show Netflix would have short listed several candidates and producers would have cherry picked ONLY those that would be fueling the stereotypes and misogyny expected from typical arranged marriage. Smart, educated, liberal folks do not make great TV material. Itna akal to hona chahiye, after all you guys are also creating content !!

So many of my fellow Indians come to TPE podcasts for schadenfraude (look it up) and criticise the current situation in Pakistan and rightly so. But when a Pakistani on the podcast even dares to mention that India en masse is also moving towards politics of hatred, the same people flock to curse the living daylights out of the guest and Shehzad (check out the comments on the Hussain Haqqani podcast). And then they say that please bring an Indian to share an Indian perspective. Ab Indian aa gaya hai to bol rahe hain ki right wing Indian ko bulao. Bhai wo right wing Pakistaniyon ko nai bulata, right wing Indians ko kyun bulayega who will sprout hatred at every given opportunity? Guys caste is a living reality of our country. The fact that it makes you uncomfortable is because unlike other ills that we can confidently say we kept away from, we have perpetuated the ills of caste system consciously or unconsciously. And so have our friends and family, everyone is equally involved. And saying shit like you got to know about your caste when you came to college, or that you have OBC and SC friends, is weirdly similar to what racist whites say in the west, that they have black friends. Let's accept our mistake. It's okay.

I'm a Left winger but trust me, in India the brahimins or the general caste peoples are oppressed the most. While the so called Lower caste schedule caste, schedule tribe and OBC are given financial exemption, scholarship and reservation in education to jobs no matter how rich they're. While a general caste people will get an absolute Zero from the government. In india, we general caste people feel our surnames as the curse. We people are not responsible for the stuffs happened hundred years ago. In today's time Lower caste people in towns and cities are much empowered. But they don't let it come to public Orelse they would loose the priveleges. They say of equality but in reality they want birth right priveleges. Some of my ultra rich friends got into prestigious universities with such a low score in entrance exams while I didn't get a single University despite of the fact that I scored much better than them in entrance. Just they had an caste certificate of Schedule tribe, so they got a free pass. What I mean to say that castism in india do exist in some villages and those who're oppressed must get reservation benefits. But the one who's rich, living a luxurious life in cities and towns should not get reservation..A poor general caste person needs to pay double than a schedule caste guy who's far richer than him in any entrance. B.R. Ambedkar who founded India's constitution wanted that reservation should be given to sc, St and OBC only for ten years so that they can empower themselves as a community in this years. But the so called oppressed Lower caste people didn't let the government abolish this reservation even after 75 years. Not a single country is there in the world where there's such an extensive reservation. Even in colleges in usa, be it a white or black or Hispanic, all are required to get equal marks to earn a job. While in india no matter how talented you're no matter how poor you're, you'll be helped by the government only if you're a sc, st and OBC. This reservation system is slowly eating away our India by putting undeserving people in top positions with the name of caste. In international level we are demeaned, in domestic level we are demeaned. We get nothing from the government for the deeds of our ancestors. If they hate us so much, why should we even live in this country. This is the reason majority of Indians who migrates to west are from general caste. Atleast in USA, our surname will not be an obstacle for persuing our dream. Let this India be the nation of Sc,st, OBC, muslims, Christians, Sikhs and other remaining minorities. We brahimins makes up 5% of the population and general caste people makes up 20% population. But still the remaining population never misses a single opportunity to demean us and consider us barbarians. In today's india, this right wing hindu nationalist organization like RSS and BJP are all leaded by those OBC peoples. Narendra Modi is himself an OBC and our president is an ST. But what international media says that brahimins are oppressing Lower caste people and muslims. It's just a entire lie. It's in the cost of villainising the Brahmins, they're empowering themselves. In modern history name a single leader who was a Brahmin and had participated in radicalism. Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi all founded the stone of equality and liberalism. But still general caste people the so called higher Caste people are the barbarians. Isn't? I'm a Brahmin and I wish I was not a brahimin. They say brain drain but I say brain drain is the actually the survival of talent which was going to wasted in India in the name of caste. Equality doesn't mean of giving Birth right priveleges. In South Africa, blacks were oppressed by whites but after Nelson Mandela, all blacks and whites got equal priveleges. But in india, the higher caste people are now oppressed instead of enacting equality, they're now avenging..

Reservation is a complicated topic, and KZitem comments is not the right place to discuss the intricacies of it. I don't even claim to know the solutions to it, I just know that it's much more complicated than black and white. I will say one thing, however - saying that casteism exists in some villages is a big ass myth. Casteism exists within each one of us, to this day, in a massive unconscious way. It makes us uncomfortable and we don't want to face it, which is why we try and turn our faces away from it when someone brings it up. Every day of our lives, including those in metropolitan cities, caste is a huge factor.

@@shashankjha8851 although i believe in equality but the difference is that they are supported by indian government, world's liberal policies but the Brahmins or the general caste people who comprise of only 20% population suffers from the castism inacted by India's constitution in the name of reservation. If they're taking the benefit of reservation, then why should I not be castist towards them. I'm descriminated by my government for uplifting those dummies while our government don't give a damn to help us no matter how financially Weaker we are. India actually don't belongs to us. It's the paradise for them. We arr barbarians according to them. I'm waiting for the day when we barbarians will cease to exist in this nation and will migrate in West. Castism exist but towards the Brahmins and general caste people..The castism to the so called oppressed people are not supported by government nor by the literate population. But our castism is supported by the government by enacting reservation. Reservation is no way a complex topic. Reservation is just a way to take revenge from the Brahmins and general caste people. If it was so, then I would like you to see South Africa. Situation was same there with whites and blacks. But today both the peoples are seen equally by their government unlike our government who see us as Barbarians. Btw being a Brahmin, I'm very much ready to turn myself into an st,sc or OBC.

Upper castes coping in the comment section. Seethe and cope, assholes 😂😂. Your savarna hatred is on full display. As always, great works Shehzad. About time such voices are brought forth, and not just the beneficiaries of a castist ecosystem, be it in academia or other spheres. This is the "real" signifier of diversity in the South Asia: Caste/biradari.

MORE OVER WE ARE NOT INTERESTED IN "GOOD MOVIES" ANY MORE, WE LISTEN TO THE AUDIOS AND WATCH '"PRON VIDEOS" OF OUR POLITICAL LEADERS AND RETD GENERALS AND JUDGES, AS INDIANS CAN NEVER COMPETE US IN THIS "PRON INDUSTRY OF PAKISTAN" ALSO WE ADD INDIAN MOST SEXY SONGS IN THESE VIDEOS LIKE"CHOLIE KAAY PEECHAY KYA HAE" WHICH SATISFY OUR "CURIOSITY INSTINCT , AND THEN WE GO OUT TO "FIND THE TRUTH" I MEAN ON THE STREETS TO FIND THE "CHOLIES".

What I think intellectual looking solution for their society should be imported , while in old time I noticed weak know how to co-exist with stronger. Nowadays people are confused too much about freedom how to enjoy while society everywhere divided between weak and strong. Tell people about how weak can be changed to strong ,is it there any medicine or law?
