Rest in peace Jo-El. Saturday January 13, 2024. It is my understanding was you were on tour and was playing in Llano Texas at the Llano Country Opery. Your Last song was Tear Stained Letter for which you received a standing ovation. Later on after the show you suffered a massive heart attack and passed away. My Mother and Father really liked your music and so did I. Rest serenely and thank you for the music and wonderful memories!

RIP Jo-El, you could rock the house! I’ll never forget you and Doug Kershaw tearing the stage up, you on your squeeze box and Doug on his fiddle. They don’t make them like y’all anymore! Now it’s time for you to rock Heaven! God’s blessings to your family and all your fans!

Jo-El Sonnier looked a bit like Eli Wallach. This country classic is my favorite song from him. This should have been a Billboard #1 country hit for Jo-El Sonnier. Reached #9 in the fall 1988, so still a big hit. What a musical treasure he was. RIP Jo-El Sonnier. Your music will live on forever.

Just heard the sad, heart breaking news that you are with Jesus and playing your wonderful Cajun music! Love you, and your music will be missed. Only good stuff comes out of Louisiana, you! Doug, Sammy, and Eddy Raven. I will think of you when I see that blue Cajun moon Eddy sings about! RIP and you have left behind many tear stained pillows with your passing, dear Jo-El! 💕 🌹 rosita

I’m from the UK and I regret not seeing Jo-El when he came over a good while back. Thought he should have been a bigger star Stateside and disappointed his version of ‘Someday I Will Leave The Parade’ isn’t on you Tube. What a great recording ‘Tear Stained Letter’ is.

I really miss hearing this song,just heard it today for the first time in almost its release!! We need more Jo-El Sonnier and Alan Jackson,etc! Not this crap they're calling country,today! The 90s was my kind of Country Music,it had something to look forward to; it also had hope about the future but,apparently the up and comers weren't listening!!!!
@kyleb5169

Hate to break it to you but the 90s is what started what modern country music is. Garth Brooks is the biggest reason country is where its at today. He mainstreamed it by adding pop flare to his songs and it just went from there. If you want to blame anyone, blame the biggest selling country singer of all time. :)
