I used to collect lighters when I smoked. Still have quite a few custom Zippos and Ferrari F1 prototype/ promotional lighters...back when I worked within a department that managed such matters. I can't count how many I gave away to visiting suppliers and other business associates.

Did you ever get you one yet?; my dad showed me how to make your own trench lighter way back in the late 50's. I've made one several years later, still have it and it works just as good now as it did when i first made it. They're easy to make by anyone that has a little shop experience and knows a little about soldering.

I know what you mean about collections. I collect antique safety razors. I guess it's old manly stuff. Knives, razors, lighters, etc. Nice collection. Get yourself an authentic IMCO Triplex. I think you'll like it. I also recommend picking up an old Beattie Jet from ebay. Those are interesting.

Yes. Tipping it heats a gas expansion tube creating the jet effect. Kind of like heating the tube on a white gas camp stove.

Thats true, its a man thing to collect that kind of stuff. Its good! Gives you a choice every time you go out and depending if its a black tie, business, just smart, casual, hiking or whatever day. IMCO closed doors in 2012 but sold the rights to a Japanese company who produce in China. They claim better quality control than some other Chinese makers. I have that same one you have, the Streamline design, and its working fine. Love that silver one with the uv light, where did you get that?

Your ww2 lighter is a reproduction from the 70's. The real ones are twice as heavy and a lot more substantial.
@adrianthomas4660
2 жыл бұрын
Yup I got my repo one in the 80’s , and my real one is from WW1 a bullet from a 303 Royal Enfield , I believe. There’s no wind shield nor a spring to push flint up , but it has a screw cap to the wick , and now has a replacement bottom ..I used a miniature radiator bleed valve / because the original cracked from over-tightening Decades before ... I also have another from WW2 it’s tin n chrome a hand sized cylinder that’s oval shape the top slides up to reveal two holes inside which is the wick , the flint wheel is on the side mostly concealed , it has a name embossed “ Tommy lighter “ So you use it horizontally , might be for pipes , it’s very wind resistant . My fave though is a beautiful petrol Ronson probably 50’s , that has a hidden wind shield it’s called a “Whirlwind “

If the "trench lighter" is real it would not be made by a company it would be made in the trenches
@asadb1990
8 жыл бұрын
+Billy McIntyre "trench lighter" is a style of lighter. Now in many cases the true originals are either too worn out from use or too expensive to keep in a regular collection. So many companies from china, japan, etc started copying the main design to sell to casual collectors who don't want to pay more than say $20. Because Im also a mild collector of lighters and currently the highest I have paid for a lighter is $15. and for a while I don't expect to pay more than that unless I decide to buy a matte orange with logo zippo.
should do it at night if most of them can anly be seen at night

the honest jetlighter at 1:09 is really good. i use one for my bong and i click it atleast 20 times a day and have doen for over a year now! only downside is that it cant stay on for that long due to overheating at the nozzle! but other than that the honest jetlighter is one of the most reliable lighters i have ever owned.
@asadb1990
8 жыл бұрын
+bent540 yeah but I find that the electric ignition based jet flame lighters consume too much fuel and are very unreliable as well. All the jet lightes I have owned in the past have failed after only a few refills. The main problem I find that occurs is that sometimes the system of the lighter gets clogged with only gas, so without air, gas wont burn. Now that being said, I had good experience with multi jet lighters with multiple ignitors but then the fuel is consumed that much quicker. My current jet lighter is a ronson jetlite which seems to be made decently enough (I opened it up to remove child safety spring to make it easier to press) but even that one can be finicky with gas, the gas pressure needs to adjusted throughout a tank fill.
