When a man like Joe Alwyn can take a character like Geddy that was so mean and brutal and have nearly ever one dislike him then he knows he did his thing right in the movie and with every thing he acts in, he keeps on getting better and better at each role he plays and he nailed this one for sure. Although all the actors and actresses were really good and Cynthia Erivo that played Harriet is good in ever thing she plays in as well Joe Alwyn. I was glad in the movie they did not show a lot of people getting whipped and beat up. Although 1 part they did but usually in slave movies they make it all about hanging, whipping, ect. And I was glad this movie did not have a lot of violence in it constantly like that.. Best Hariett film ever for me. Excellent movie

The movie was inspiring for sure. However I found it disturbing just remembering how slaves were treated. It’s sad how black people can still be treated at times. They should never have been slaves or brought. Very sad. Shame we can’t history.

He seems to be particularly interested in problematic roles. Even though he is by all accounts an unproblematic person in real life. Was always asking the actress who played Harriet if she was ok and not triggered or traumatized by his acting after they did a scene.

His roles in those movies highlight the injustices, prejudices, evils that not only exit but that are passed from generation to generation. Both films are relevant today.
