I will always prefer the demonstrations done by Gordon. He has been a judge and instructor for so many years, it's like second nature to him. You know that from his interaction with his audience and the instructions he gives every time: "Let the knife do the work." "Pan, nice and hot."

Bastianich is a chef. He learned from his mother who has an award-winning restaurant in NYC. But Joe chose to take the business route, and he’s been very successful. He has the highest-rated steakhouse in the U.S (Vegas) and dozens of other restaurants (including the successful Eataly chain) That’s why he’s on Master Chef USA and Master Chef Italy. The losers in the comments ain’t done sh.t

As an asian I understand. I didn't get it the first time either. Then I've learned that that risotto rice just cook very fast. If you just slightly overcook it, it turns into a mush. That why the dish is very hard to do.

If Gordan didn't do kitchen nightmares and hotel hell and all he would be a much more ruthless than Joe when it comes to critique and for a matter of fact Joe doesn't do all that making his taste buds more delicate than Gordan's who has ate more rubbish than the all the contestants combined. I think we all may experienced similar situation where when u cook food better u can't stand many from food from outside.

Like you said, you don't need to be a chef to know food, and he especially knows food considering his business. Yet when you place him next to renowned chefs who give actual feedback, whereas he either parrots or doesn't say anything valuable at all, it's a little insulting to the contenders.

The running joke is that Joe can’t cook since he’s never worked as a chef, but an entrepreneur in the restaurant industry. In reality he’s still a very competent chef, but not to the extent of Ramsey or Elliot. And to answer your question, there’s nothing wrong with the risotto, it’s only for the joke

Technically it was okay but he did say some stuff that was really stupid, like adding the salt later is never done. What if your risotto doesnt have shallots, i guess you can't salt it 🤣 Also he said he was wilting the shallots. Wilting usually refers to leafs & flowers, you can wilt spinach in a pan for example. Shallots & onions you sweat (cooking them a bit to make them sweet & translucent). Its just funny to watch him because he's so full of himself yet he's really bad at explaining whats going on
