1. Eubank took this fight at 10 days notice when Collins pulled out and showed tremendous spirit. Whatever you may think of Eubank, he was a warrior in the ring and a gentleman to boot. A class act. 2. Calzaghe has absolutely no reason to go toe to toe in the final rounds, being miles ahead but he always did go for the K.O no matter what. Calzaghe went unbeaten his whole career, no draws, all wins and is truly one of the world's greatest but I still feel he doesn't get the respect he should. He ducked no one and beat em all. Go kid! 3. You look at today's so called world champs and they're all ducking one another, blaming one another. They need to take a leaf out of these guys books, who just got on with it. The only downside is I think Calzaghe didn't earn anywhere near what he should have done and his promoter should be ashamed of that.

Amusing to hear the commentators gradually understand what sort of fighter Calzaghe is - from wondering if the powerful southpaw could go more than eight rounds to marvelling at the constant 50 punch a round count...

My 2 favourite middleweight boxers, it was always either benn or eubank in the 90's i sided for eubank and obviously calzaghe record speaks for itself

eubank was a fraud, look through his record. aside from benn, he beat no one. wbo was a tin pot belt, unrecognised as a genuine organisation & their rankings were devoid of genuine class.....decent fighters had no interest in contending in the wbo & the recognised bodies refused to sanction fights that involved the wbo. eubank fought exclusively on itv, very limited interest outside of the uk.....names magically appeared in the wbo top 10, unknown domestic level, in their countries, fighters . Names like Ray Close (twice), sam Storey, Dan Sherry, Gary Stretch, Dan Schommer etc. He lost every fight he had against half-decent opponents.....thompson (twice), collins (twice), Calzaghe. He fought in an era where there were names like Toney, Nunn, McCallum, McClellan, Barkley etc, but made no reference to them, in fact, refusing to answer questions about them. Outside of the Uk, no one knows Eubank.....

No draws either. Honestly Robin Reed might be the only questionable fight.

After the Michael Watson fight Chris Eubank wasn’t the sam boxer. This often happens after a box has killed or permanently damaged another boxer in the ring. Chris was one of my favourite boxers he is legendary and deserves more respect.

I commented the same ..after the tragic Watson fight, Chris was never the same.....when you see how close he and Watson have now become, you understand how much it affected him at the time.

Eubank did land one last decent shot on Calzaghe’s chin in those closing seconds but I think the commentator bigger it up a bit just because JC was holding after it. He’d been taking similar shots throughout the fight without flinching and there was some holding and leaning going on in the last couple of rounds,

What an amazing fight. Calzaghe proved what an incredible fighter he is in the toughest way possible; meanwhile Eubank showed just how much heart he has. In this case, both fighters could walk away with their heads held high. Wonderful stuff.

The only other era of middleweight boxing I remember so much talent was the Hearns, Hagler Duran and Leonard. As opposed to Eubanks, Benn, Calzaghe, Collins and Watson.
Joe Calzaghe schooled Chris Eubanks, and this was at the start of his amazing career.. Absolutely amazing talented boxer who had no Ego whatsoever. He never acted the big man, he got his fights and always did his talking with his fists.. Definitely one of the best boxers of all time.. Eubanks and he took a lot of shots, so have to take my hat off to someone who can take such blows and last 12 rounds, as he looked troubled from the 3/4th round 💚✌🏼
