This is my favorite piano music. I can hardly believe I have a chance to learn to play this...but here I am.

Excellent! Thanks for taking your time to help us learn! You're a saint!! Not sure which saint they would necessarily refer to you as, but, you're def a REAL, live Saint and you're doin some powerful and kind acts on this planet! For myself it's just the mental health assistance, or mental "help", that you've unwittingly given to me. Can't thank you enough, enough times or enough to where you'd even understand or comprehend!! Thanks again, M.Bourne.

This is what real rock music is, with literally rocking back and forth between a minor and major third, putting the overall feel of the sound into that area between "major=happy" and "minor=sad". Seriously, this is what I love about rock music, and you, Sir, are a generous man to place these tools within the reach of my mere mortal fingers.

Sitting in tomorrow with my old band for just this song. Thought it would be neat to play the original solo, as opposed to improv-ing on the spot like i used to (which was a little hit and miss). But, dangit! Why'd i have to make things hard? Anyway thanks! This was exactly what i needed. I would have no chance deciphering it on my own. Spent 2 1/2 hours on it. I'm so close, but a bit sloppy at tempo. So tired. Hopefully i have time to smooth it out tomorrow. And, hopefully i got the confidence to go for it at the moment of truth! :D

This is probably the best riff breakdown on youtube, and I've watched a lot of blues licks here. One thing I might meekly dare to add is that LH voicings could be a bit bluesier if you sometimes played C7 as E-A-Bb-D and F7 as Eb-A-D, as long as the root occasionally gets covered by you or the bassist. Most combinations of the 3rd, 6th, 7th, and 9th (using the 5th less often) will sound great as blues substitutions for dominant 7s. Mess around with it, I'm sure you'd have no trouble at all.

Hey thanks for the tips. I've use those types of voicing in jazz mostly, but I'll have to try it more in the blues/funk stuff. Live I'll incorporate a lot more subs.. I like the F7 as Eb A G D to get that 9 sound in there, ya know? Thats what I love about advanced theory.. there's just so many layers and combinations to make it your own. Thanks for checking out the channel.. please come again.

Heck ya I use that same F7 voicing all the time! Wasn't being critical in the least, but piano players, myself included, when practicing alone will often play that root +5/6/7 to get that LH shuffle feel going. It's even good to do that solo. But I showed up to small jazz ensemble in college and did that, only to get a polite talking to that I've a bass player now and my style should change to match (lol). Subscribed as my RH needs the work and you've got that down better than I ever did.

What is wrong with the 3 people that gave this video a thumbs down? No seriously! What is wrong with your morons? This guy knows what he is talking about! I hope that those idiots that voted thumbs down never decide to take up playing the piano because they would never have the capability of playing the instrument.

Yeah, there's a sort of freedom you get when playing with a good bass player. You can think in terms of "ensemble chords" The bass and Piano are great musical manipulators, ya know?.. where one note can make all the difference. Gotta love shop talk. lol
