I had the honour to share the stage with Joe as a member of the original Drifters Showband in 1960. Joe was a really great guy before he was famous and the fame never went to his head. I never saw Joe in bad humour, he was magic. May the Lord rest his soul.

Thank you for sharing that. Of all singers I was never lucky enough to meet, he'd be my first choice if I'd had the chance. I was lucky enough though, by pure chance to meet his third cousin Aaron Meehan who plays a bar in the Algarve, back in 2014. Another great guy, some of the humour genes certainly passed to him.

This is a wonderful song, with excellent lyrics, and the late great Joe Dolan sings this fabulous version. The song was written by the legendary country music artist Willie Nelson, but for me Joe sings the definitive version. Joe Dolan came from Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland, and was an international superstar. It is only fitting to remember him today on the ninth anniversary of his passing in 2007. Joe was an amazing live performer, and had many loyal fans. Many thanks to vonny's stuff for this superb upload. Enjoy this beautiful song ! Shared on Google+

I'll always love Joe's voice and never tire of listening to him. From dancing in the 60s to him and his great band right up to his much too his early passing at the age of 68. His Joe Shows were always packed out when he came to Belfast, my home town. Still miss you Joe. ❤

Joe Dolan is very very Irish. He sings this song with his heart, like all the Irish do. The Beatles were Irish and so is Liverpool. Cats and Prods.
