Joe Frazier as can be seen through these very rare amateur films fought from the classic boxing stance as an amateur his body weight and his head leaning towards the ball of the back foot where he stepped in with his left jab from the ball of the foot. He also had a nice boxing rhythm which allowed him to explode from the crouch with all of his right and left hooks. This was a departure from his professional career where he incorporated more bobbing and weaving defensive skills in order to breach the "pocket" of the opponent while Frazier touched them with his gloves on their arms, chest and elbows which allowed Joe to open up and set up his professional opponents for harder digging punches. Thanks Die, for another great upload.

Cheers for this explanation I'm currently trying to take elements from Frazier's style and this has gave me a good idea.

Frazier was all about the left hook. his jab was not effective and only was used to set up the left hook.

THAT'S CORRECT. IN THIS VIDEO WE CAN SEE MORE FORTHRIGHT FRAZIER, BECAUSE OF THE LOWER CLASS OF HIS OPPONENTS, AND HIS CLASS, TOO.

20 year old Joe Frazier time really flies.. A bygone era even if you were in your 20s at this time you’re in you’re late 70s and eighties today just think how many ppl that were alive in 1964 which would be billions across the world at the time are mostly dead in 2023.. Appreciate life it goes by fast

What a champ !! Thumb of left hand ( his strongest hand ) was dislocated, and also fractured in several places going into the Olympic final. A fearless fighter and from all that I've read and heard about him, he was a very decent man. R.I.P. Joe.

If you watch closely, you will notice that Joe always put his legs into his punches.

Can you even bloody imagine? Some Young and hungry student-athlete decides to take up boxing. He says his prayers, takes his vitamins, drink his milk, and amazingly makes it to his country's Olympic boxing team. Then, he steps in against Joe and gets beaten half to death with a left hook, over and over.

Apparently Joe was a great guy, easy going who had time for everybody, but when he got in the ring, it was all business. It had to be, he came from absolute poverty and boxing was a way out.

frazier and a young holmes would've beaten tyson, ali and foreman would win also. maybe not norton. a dream match would've been tyson/ shavers, both incredible ko power, similar size.
