@@bossfan49 l can appreciate that. I always thought taste was subjective. I'm sure the taste police will come knocking on my door and force open my earballs and insist that l'm wrong, of course. the album this is from, NIGHT AND DAY, is excellent! instead of a & b, the album was listed as night side and day side, each side's songs representing their respective vibes, day or night. "breaking us in two" was my other favourite from this LP and the album design was fabulous too. saw joe on the tour for this in '83, outdoors at an ampitheater under a moonlit sky - it was MAGICAL and he put on a fantastic show ❤

A fantastic "mood" song, with a hook of a melody created by a glockenspiel. Funny you guys mention the two Joe Jacksons (Father of Michael, Tito, Janet etc), as there is a white singer from the UK named Michael Jackson (though he later went by Mick) that originally wrote and performed "Blame it on the Boogie" before The Jacksons used it. You should check it out, as his original version is slower and sounds similar to Stevie Wonder's "Sir Duke."

For higher quality audio find a studio version instead of the video version. Early eighties videos tend towards muffled audio and Joe Jackson's music deserves high fidelity playback because his instrumentals are always top notch. When you're ready for another taste of his music, check out some of these tunes -- "Is She Really Going Out with Him?", "Look Sharp!", "Got the Time", "It's Different For Girls", "Fools in Love", "Sunday Papers", "On Your Radio", "I'm the Man", "Beat Crazy" ...

Watched this a hundred times in the 80s, loved it! Unlike most 80s videos, it told a story. A later Joe Jackson favorite is "Home Town" - from after I moved from a small town to the city... Home Town by Joe Jackson - Yup, it's never the same.... Lyrics: "Of all the stupid things I could have thought This was the worst I started to believe That I was born at seventeen And all the stupid things The letters and the broken verse Stayed hidden at the bottom of the drawer They'd always been And now, I plough through piles Of bills, receipts, and credit cards And tickets, and the daily news And sometimes I just Wanna go back to my hometown Though I know it'll never be the same Back to my hometown 'Cause it's been so long And I'm wondering if it's still there We think we're pretty smart Us city slickers get around And when the going's rough We kill the pain and relocate We're never married Never faithful not to any town But we never leave the past behind We just accumulate So, sometimes when the music stops I seem to hear a distant sound Of waves and seagulls Football crowds, and church bells And I Wanna go back to my hometown Though I know it'll never be the same Back to my hometown 'Cause it's been so long And I'm wondering if it's still there Back to my hometown Though I know it'll never be the same Back to my hometown 'Cause it's been so long And I'm wondering if it's still there
