Tämä on vain kaunista ja tauhoittavaa, ja ihailtavaa taituruutta.

I’ve been working on his version from the unforgettable album. This one just takes it to 5 new levels. And it’s just something he pulled out of his head on a given day. The next week it would have been different. And I’ll slave over the simpler one for months🤦🏻

Primer on how to learn to play Joe's beautiful arrangements, assuming you know where all the notes on the fretboard exist. Establish the key and then learn the melody. When you know how to play the melody in various positions on the fret board, discover where the chords are in the fret position you are playing. Playing guitar solo in this manner is like taking a walk. You need to anticipate your destination. And start by playing quite slowly and deliberately. Then increase the speed as necessary. If you read notation, all you need is a lead sheet with the melody and the written chords. Tablature is a waste of time and energy. Like trying to learn a soliloquy in a Shakespearean play one letter at a time.

Nice analogy about walking in the park and anticipating the destination. But with all due respect joe doesn’t play arrangements in the true sense of that word. He plays it differently every time which is part of his genius. The timing, phrasing, rhythm, harmonic knowledge are on a very high level. You can’t really boil all of that down to a formula.

I'm glad that he did this as a straight instrumental. Putting a vocal in with this wouldn't work. A vocal on this particular song would need a full orchestra as a soft backup.

This is what happens when you sit in prison for a couple of years on drug charges and all you do is practice guitar all day every day.
