My wife btw was on of those people that was one of those ignorant of guns individuals, was afraid of them and thus didnt like them. After working with her, she is a better shot than I am, uses them more often than I do and isnt afraid to grab one when something "not right" is going on outside (We have a small farm/ranch and raise a lot of our own food and like other places have regional issues with meth etc).

but on the other hand, AK47's are regulated to where you can't make them automatic, etc. so clearly gun regulations already exist. you only bitch about where the line is. the second amendment states "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". leaving aside the militia part and the history behind that, it clearly says "regulated". so do you believe we should lift the regulation to require AK47's cannot be modified as automatic, should that regulation be repealed?

Full autos are all but impossible to obtain except for military vets and even then lots of hoops need to be gone through to obtain the license for them. He only thinks ideally not realistically, and the fact he said home invasions happen but not often and used that to justify his stance says everything about his moral compass. If you ban semi-automatic rifles wouldn't that create a black market just like outlawing drugs did. Then only criminals would have those types of weapons and you would be creating a new revenue stream for the cartels and gangs. If you could flip a switch and all guns disappeared I'd say flip it but that's never gonna happen. Putting law abiding citizens at a disadvantage against criminals isn't the way to solve the problem in my opinion. Who do you think is going to turn their guns in at a higher rate the law abiding citizens or the criminals? You can't always wait for the police to come save you sometimes they just can't get there in time and if it gets bad enough they just won't come it's happened before more then a few times!

Right. There's 40k gun deaths a year, 400 million guns. So where are all of these children getting their parents guns. Also, a burglary/home invasion happens every 15 seconds in the US. 1 out of 5 homes will be burglarized. But children are killing themselves all the time, and home invasion are rare🤦🏽♂️. People make shit up to make their ridiculous point sound better.
@scoop2448

@@joeschmo247 No, it's based on studies. The fact is you're 22 times more likely to have that gun be used accidentally, or for homicide or for suicide, than for self defense. If you happen to have kids, you are now increasing the risk of either them or yourself being shot by accident, if you have a gun around. One of the drawbacks of being a human being is having a really bad intuition on risk-benefit analysis. We tend to often times ignore clear risks and emphasize the potential for benefit, effectively convincing ourselves that our choices are sound and likely to benefit us despite extremely obvious indications otherwise. This is why so many people play the lotto. And why so few have a healthy diet. You're getting the gun thinking it'll help protect you, but you're only thinking of the potential positive outcome without weighing it against the overwhelming potential that it can be used negatively.
@joeschmo247
4 жыл бұрын
@@scoop2448 Wait, so 40k is bigger than 2 million? You do understand that's the number of gun defenses? So a very small percentage of gun deaths are from children getting ahold of guns. This man said differently, also, home invasion is very very high in the US, but this man says differently. That's my point. Way more guns stop crime, than the other way around. Also, he isn't talking about the main gun that kills people, handguns. He dances over the BS term, but he says AK-47. 97.7% of all gun deaths are not rifle related. But why do people talk about them? No one wants children killing themselves, no one wants murder, but to say it's the guns fault is ridiculous. Until we get a hold on mental health and poverty, this will never stop.

How is it even possible to lie so blithely about something so incredibly obvious, you can read the Federalist Papers and literally read 50 different permutations of the same sentence, and EVERY single one of those permutations is saying the same thing, the Founders explicitly intended the 2nd Amendment to make it impossible for the State to disarm the public. Every word written by the Founders on the subject hammered home "Seriously, however you're thinking of interpreting this as somehow saying that you're allowed to confiscate the peoples' guns, you are wrong, the amendment means that Americans can arm themselves in the style of the military." You can't even make the small-brained take of "well not THESE guns because these ones are more dangerous" when the AR-15 is literally identical to every other rifle in 5.56 designed since the 50s, they're not even disproportionately used in crimes, the Pulse shooter didn't have an AR-15, the Columbine kids didn't have AK-47s, the vast majority of gun crimes are committed with pistols. You can't even HAVE This conversation with these people because they will just point-blank ignore you and claim, provably incorrectly, that there's an epidemic of AR-15 toting white kids going around smoking up schools, but it's just provably not true, the FBI has been collecting data on these things for a century and it couldn't be more excruciatingly obvious that when we say America has a "gun problem," we're not talking about America at all, we're talking about a small subset of the Urban poor (black people) who have an extreme gang violence problem. If you're white or Asian in America you're slightly LESS likely to be shot by any gun of any model than the average Belgian. The gang violence problem is so bad that it literally drags the US down from being one of the safest countries in the world to being Third World tier, and it isn't AR-15s or Tec-9s or whatever, it isn't legally owned weapons at all, it's glocks, you want to ban THOSE now? They're not even assault weapons, they're cheap Austrian handguns.

Freedom to bear arms “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” In my CMV, only those willing to take gun safety classes and additional training should be able to own any weapon and extensive training for military-grade weapons. The political parties do not appear to care about the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment is the easiest example to see this. Democrats clearly ignore the portion which says, “The security of a free state.” However, the Republicans also ignore a portion which is, “A well regulated Militia.” In my point of view, ALL weapons should be legal to own only for those who are willing to go through training and education. It is important to recognize the context of why we have the second amendment to understand what is meant by “keep and bear arms.” Our founding fathers just finished fighting the world’s most powerful and well-funded military force. They wrote the 2nd amendment so we can better prepare for the United Kingdom should they decide to attack again to reclaim the 13 colonies. Our founding fathers established our nation on a solid document that we must interpret carefully and comply with, before other government laws. The Democrats interpret the 2nd amendment as, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to HUNT, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Therefore, they have been passing laws to make military-grade weapons, assault weapons, and ammo capacity to be limited or illegal. “What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.” - Thomas Jefferson. Currently, there are two standards of laws, one for the political representatives and government, and another law we must obey. For them to not be hypocrites either assault weapons need to be illegal for both us and our government or we need to be allowed to own nukes, jets, and Abram tanks. The Republicans interpret the 2nd amendment as, “A well-armed people, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Republicans seem hellbent to prevent the requirements for training and education for the ownership of weapons. “A free people ought not only to be armed but disciplined”-George Washington. In addition, the supreme court clarifies, “Finally, the adjective “well-regulated” implies nothing more than the imposition of proper discipline and training.”-Supreme Court Vs heller 2007. A few of the liberal US'S states require gun safety training whereas Republican states do not require training. Would you agree that we should hold our government and political representatives to the same law we are subject to? We should be treated to the same standard as our political representatives for guns, healthcare, and anything else. You are more likely to tell me the truth than our political representatives. I, for one, do not trust our government; the root reason we should be able to own any weapons of war stems from this lack of trust. Would you say we are no match for the might of our military? The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have shown that they were able to make our military look highly ineffective. If the second amendment is outdated, the constitution also has a repeal process, and both parties should stick to the entire constitution until a repeal can pass. Therefore, how do you propose to repeal the second? What should the second amendment say today? I believe the second amendment should stay until we have a comprehensive set of anti-corruption measures and a society that values true education and well-informed voting. If the 2nd amendment of the constitution is correct, at least my understanding of it is, is there data to prove this is the best policy? The Democrats I debated like to use Japan and Yemen; Japan has strict gun laws with a murder per capita rate of .26, and Yemen allows gun ownership and has a murder rate per capita of 6.77. The Republicans I debated use Nigeria and Switzerland; Switzerland's murder rate per capita is .59 and Nigeria's is 34.52. In addition, Republicans like to point out Chicago as a place where gun control failed, and Democrats point out the state of Louisiana that has in past allowed anyone to own guns leads to high murder rates. It seems clear to me that you can use data to prove any point, I am going to attempt to prove what is the truth. worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/murder-rate-by-country en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overview_of_gun_laws_by_nation#cite_note-224 For the second map, yes, I did site Wikipedia because it still gives us an idea of how strict each of the 200 countries in the world Gun laws are and I am far too lazy to read a library of laws. For the countries I specifically mention I site better sources. Contrasting these two maps shows no correlation between gun laws and murder rates. Another note: I am looking for murder rates per capita rather than gun murder rates per capita. However, there is a common denominator, education in combination with freedom with a lack of corruption. “If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.”-Thomas Jefferson. Most countries with a low murder rate have a high-quality education system, and countries with high murder rates have inadequate quality education systems. ourworldindata.org/global-education landgeist.com/2021/03/08/global-freedom-index-2021/ I see the closest correlation between the Literacy/education map and Freedom maps with the murder rate map. However, it is not 1:1 Venezuela of South America has a murder rate of 36.69 and a 95.5% literacy rate, more like 1 to .8. Venezuela’s education system is indoctrination, and their government is systemically corrupt which is why they have an extremely high murder rate. Therefore, I believe when we are taught the truth, we can then govern ourselves. We do not need someone to tell us ‘Do this for it is right’ instead, being educated and self-educated in the truth we decide for ourselves what is right. Rachel Hart in her own paper said, “that conditions weakening or strengthening rule of law and increasing political, social, and economic stability hold the strongest explanatory power over variances in homicide rates.” Therefore, I am going to look closer to the country with the lowest per capita murder rates; Switzerland .59, Japan .26, Oman .27, Norway .47, Indonesia .43, Qatar .37, and Senegal .27. Senegal is poor, however, they like all these others have a culture of respect and loving your neighbor. Japan has a near-total gun ban but their culture and education system have their people honorable to each other. Switzerland has extremely high gun ownership and all their guns owners are trained to be proper militia. I found each of these countries has extraordinarily little corruption, a culture of respect and honor, true education, and other similar factors.
