Paulie is an odd fellow but I really enjoy seeing behind the scenes in his eyes. The way he lifts everyone up sincerely is commendable. I think more of him now after this interview and a few others than I ever have.

Summer 2001, I'm a technician on tour with two actors. They want to visit the Comedy Store, which I had never heard of and thought it was a literal store to buy comedy things. They were losing their minds being in front of comedy holy land. So because we wanted tickets and I was the only one calm enough, I entered the side back door which was open. As I walked down this little hallway past pictures of celebs on the wall, from the end of this hallway I hear a guy yelling at his mother, "Mom what the fuck" and out of a door pops out Paulie. His instant question was, "what are you doing here man?". So I explained the situation, and he stopped me and asked "...wait, you've never heard of this place?" After saying no, he gave me a 10 min personal tour of the place. Amazing. He then either gives me 3 tickets or tells me he'll remember me, I don't remember, but either way there's a catch: I can't tell my two actors about meeting him or the tour! He would be at the entrance greeting people, if we show up tonight and they still don't know, we get front row seats. If they thank him, back row. I didn't say shit. We get there and upon seeing Paulie, they, again, loose their minds. I'm last behind them. After they say whatever fans say, my turn passing him we simply fist bumped and he told me, "Nice job dude". Thanks Paulie, my best side story ever. They still don't know! Andrew Dice Clay ripped into us because when he asked "So, is anyone from outta town?" my actress yelled "WE'RE FROM CANADA!". Great night.

Pauly is just a pleasant soul & so smart at the same time.. I love that he helps ppl with their traumas & everything.. He could be living a super kushy life with no outside ppl to bother him.. But he actually spends his time with REAL ppl all the time.. That is the epitome of integrity in my book! Love Rogan as always.. both dudes are living legends.. Much love Texas💓💓 Edit to add, after finishing the show, that AIC with Layne Staley is my all time fave band & singer... Mad Season is so good & Layne's mom sung River of Deceit.. that was so powerful to me.. So I loved watching yall talk about my fav. music ever!!💓

Love pauly, love Joe. My favourite part of the interview is when they dive into the heroin deaths of 90's muso's. Heroin is a life choice. I also lived through the 90's, I did alot of drugs, by choice. I was never addicted, I was recreational. But, I knew blokes that chose heroin, not many of them made it, and those that did didn't live long or good lives.

The comedy dictatorship was out there as a conversation. sounds like Pauly Shore was saying yes I was tortured as a kid and a ROUGH upbringing. I can relate. I come from a broken home which means both parents split at very young age. Sounds healthier than Pauly's parents staying together even when they didn't want to be together. Stress induced illnesses and living unhappy but living happy through comedy. It's a tragic human thing.

Pauly lives in the shadow of the past. Don’t get me wrong. I was a huge fan back in the day. In high school biodome was a personal fav. Yes I know how bad it is but tell that to 16 yr old me. But the more you learn about him and listen to his stories it seems like he lives in a lot of great shadows that he was raised around. Seems like he hasn’t gotten over the past. But this is the first interview I’ve seen him in that I wasn’t thinking “oh pauly, what’s become of you?”. Hope he finds his way and breaks free.
