Pavlik was one of my favorite fighters of all time. Win or lose, he was incredible to watch. I think Youngstown treated him badly when he retired and as he said 'tried to make him looked bad with a desperate attempt to get attention for themselves.' His skirmishes were blown so wildly out of proportion. In the age before social media no one would've ever known. You can tell when someone's telling the truth and Kelly is telling the truth here. I feel like the people around him in the town took advantage of him. Offering drinks, wanting to get drunk with him. Kelly was taken advantage of no question. Everyone has silly little moments. I really don't like how he was slandered after his retirement by the local people around him. You wanna go around and drink and have a good time after achieving that incredible career, for locals to turn on him for attention is really sad. Love you Pavlik. Wished he would've got to take the Ward fight. Yes he might of lost or almost certainly, but I think it would've been an entertaining fight Pavlik made a wise decision, but I still wanted to see it. I wish he would've switched trainers at some point.

Congrats on your sobriety Kelly loved your fights. Youngstown was a hard drinking town. I remember when I was 5 going to the park with my granddaughter to feed the squirrels. He would hit every bar in Youngstown like clockwork. The bartenders would have a goblet of beer a single shot of whiskey and a double all lined up for him. He would shoot the double then drop the single into the beer down they went then on to the next bar. I loved him but I was 5. I know it’s fucked up but that’s my favorite memory of my granddaughter.
