I had an incredible experience with a momma gorilla back in 1999... My son was only 2 weeks old at the time. As I held him in my arms, a female gorilla approached the glass and held her hand up to the glass. I was bummed as she turned away from the glass and went deep into the enclosure. A few moments later she returned with her newborn baby. She held her baby in her arms, not unlike the way I was holding my son. We just stood there in total admiration, from one mother to another. It's an experience I will never forget.

Humans looking animals in the eyes isn't "stupidity", it's the fact that humans look each other in the eyes to see what we're looking at, to gauge each others reactions, and to tell if we're trust worthy.

animals have other forms of communication things we wouldn't inherently understand fully without adequate research, but staring into the eyes is almost always perceived in nature as a challenge. You've been undeniably 'spotted' 'made aware of' 'sensed' and usually on a high frequency and likely probability basis, one is predator and one is prey, distinguishing that is why you get certain reactions from animals, they perceive everything in a more instinctual acute way, there are no concepts in play, just an instinctual sense of reality, and/or a reality built off experience.

They say a gorilla can lift up to 10 times their weight. That can be over 3k pounds. And people want to stare at its eyes and smile. Showing teeth is a threat

I don't doubt their strength at all but I wonder how they measure their strength. I know my ass ain't about to be anywhere near one of those fuggers slinging a 45lb plate around like a Frisbee.

@@fritzthecat2634 muscle and bone density tests plus the ability to rip down banana trees with little effort. Research says between 7 to 10x their body weight so between 3- 4 thousand pound deadlift. Chimps are known to be 3x the strength of an average man. I have seen a video of an escaped orangutan that was at a zoo that military pressed a 500 plus pound motorcycle over its head and threw it with ease. Just picked it up and chucked it 15 or so feet.

@@hillbillyholler516 ripping down a banana tree isn't impressive they are super soft. and chimps are barely stronger than the avg man besides grip
