This old guy that I was kinda friends with took me to this safari park thing for my birthday like 15 years ago. It's called Serengeti Park (Hodenhagen in Germany) and it's basically a zoo with free roaming animals. You cannot walk through it, you have to drive through it, either with the park's tour bus or with your own car. We took the guy's car, and when we got to the part with baboons, two of them jmped on the car and started ripping off the windshield wipers and chewing on the antenna. Buddy got super pissed off and opened the car door and was about to jump out to slap the baboon off of his car. This guy never listened to anything I said, but that day he was very lucky that, for a change, he did listen and shut the door again. To this day I do not understand how a 64 year old man could think that it would be a good idea to try to beat up a baboon. Had he gone out, I would have slammed the door shut and locked it, I can tell you that.

They're not that intense. Like never mess with a baboon. But they won't seek you out to hurt you. Ask anyone from around Cape Town. We've all been around baboons. At the one university, there used to be this deposed alpha that would walk around campus. Huge like some sort of troll and scary as hell. But super chilled. He'd just walk around looking for trash and we'd all keep a healthy distance.

My brother once shot a deer with a bow during hunting season with all the correct legal stuff. The deer came out of thick bushes, he hit just right in the heart and it bolted back into the same bushes he came out of. Less than a minute later he came back out and my brother nailed it again in the same spot, it went right back into the bushes. He waited then came down from his stand and walked into the bushes and there was two deer that looked almost exactly the same. Both were 10 points and well built. He only had the permit to get one. He was 16 and freaked out that he was going to go to jail. He took both to a small butcher shop to get processed and because it was one of the two weekends of shotgun season and there was a conservation officer there. My brother went up to him and told him and asked if he was in trouble. The conservation officer just laughed and said that wasn't poaching. A guy who happened to be there had a permit that he hadn't used and he let him use his permit.
