prior to manson there was a long running cult at the ranch.manson claimed a lot of cult stuff and busciliogisi went along with it that was stuff left over in boxes from the previous owner.manson wasnt the messiah he made out! he and hubbard were cut from the same cloth manson found using cult techniques allowed him to manipulate people he wasnt bothered by the ideology.he just wanted fame and money! he thought scientology was a step too far even for him! visitors to the ranch commune prior to manson after ww2 included hubbard and gene rodenberry and most of the sci fi writers.rodenberry and hubbard were similar had the same kind of background and were often confused with each other.hubbard often got work meant for rodenberry and plagiarised the whole community.gene said in the early 50s they all hung out in communes smoking pot boozing and shmoozing hubbard was very theoretically facist as oddly were several writers who saw the future needing a firm hand to prevent dystopian decay! rodenberry was more hopeful outlining an idea he had for a earth planets federation a society where money is obsolete etc and space exploration is peaceful basically his first draft of star trek.hubbard he says stole the concept to form the basis of scientology .i could be a pope like him said gene but it was the only way he could roll stolen ideas and phony religeon .he didnt have the skill to make my ideas into a sucessful series.i mean have you read his stuff?

I am a pastor, so here is the deal. The vast majority of churches have yearly budgets of around 100,000 and pastors get paid less than teachers with the same amount of training. The thing about property tax is true, and not only that but we can write off any household expenses. This is an old law to help churches have a pastor who could not pay a living salary. This law should probably be looked at again. The Televangelist are the bane of all true pastors. They are embarrassing and damaging. Most pastors look at them the way a good cop looks at a dirty cop or a teacher looks at a pedophile teacher. We cannot stand them.

That's a good example of attempting to remove the speck in another's eye and neglecting the plank in your own. Christianity is based on coercion, largely of small children. This is not something that you would find compelling in any other context. Fear makes people embrace dementia and willfully blind themselves to an obvious fraud. It's simple-minded to think all religions are the same. You may not believe their "miraculous" stories, but they treat people VERY differently. There should be a cap on where they (religious organizations) would get taxed. And, it’s not that hard to point at who needs to get it-just look at the televangelists with mansions or Scientology as a whole.

Yup, back in the day when people thought about Scientology, they thought about as some weird "self help" shit that called itself a religion. And i watched a documentary where one former member said he got hooked when some guy offered him to read some of their texts and flat out said "hey, if you try it and it works who cares if it's true?" And that is how they hook people. People who lack motivation, lack "purpose" etc suddenly gets some religion who flat out tells them to earn a shit of money and how to earn that money etc (in order to pay in to the religion aswell). Off course some people are going to get hooked by it. That's how cults works

People don't contribute? Literally, a lot of churches serve the poor: clothing ministry, soup kitchens, meals throughout the week, hypothermia shelters, etc. Not talking about Scientology, but the whole thing about churches not contributing isn't true. I don't respect the folks who only give through taxes or around Christmas. Say what you want about it, but some folks are genuine in their faith and service to their community.

Some religions do but most are just full of shit and do nothing but judge their fellow human beings, and do nothing to help anyone but themselves. Like Alexandre said they fuck children and destroy their lives but because we’re brought up to believe they are all good society gives them a free pass. Some of the most evil predators ever are “good religious people”. Anyone remember Dennis Rader? If there really is a God, and I ever get to meet him I would love to punch the asshole right in the face.

It would be a good forum to have a Mormon and a Church of Scientology representative as well, though they won't as their ideas probably won't stand scrutiny.

How do they never mention that the man who created it was a pupil of Crowley. That's huge. He was inspired by Crowley, like how can you leave that fact out.
I just want to address the early part of this video when Joe talks about taxation on religions, and uses examples of mega-churches. This is a poorly used example because it’s always applied broadly. “Joel Olsteen is mega rich from robbing people in his church, ergo tax churches.” There’s a lot more “small-time” churches, synagogues, mosques, temples or whatever you wanna call it that don’t have a bank account in the Cayman Islands. Lots of them that don’t belong to some larger catholic/Mormon mega group that pools their money. You’d end up closing a lot of doors. On top of which, and probably more importantly, once you open the door up wider between government and organized religion via taxation, you invite more influence and a stronger takeover. Because now they can have a stronger say in what you do.
