Does this sound theoretically possible to you?
@morrman3350
2 жыл бұрын
@@dud3man6969 I think a lot of the fear stems from the fact that "quantum" has become a buzzword in TV and cinema for generally anything futuristic. On top of this, there are literally hundreds of startups working on quantum computing and it's a huge bubble (most physicists say this) perpetuated by big money rather than any real science. Quantum computers will be a tool, maybe for AI, but mostly for doing computationally heavy tasks. And it will take many more years before we have a quantum computer that we can even call "useful". Don't buy into the hype, listen to what physicists say rather than businessmen. There are much more important ethical issues in AI right at the moment, that are unrelated to QAGI speculation.

it never really used its 64 bit capabilities just like the ps2 never used its 128 and 512 bit capabilities. marketing is king when it comes to consumer electronics. modern computers only bothered with 64 bit in the last ten years
@PrometheusXV
4 жыл бұрын
@@Cheesemonk3h This isn't true. The processors for both the N64 and PS2, much like modern processes, were built on 64-bit architectures. In the case of the N64, it never took full advantage of this 64-bit architecture because it was restricted by a 32-bit system bus, and the file size of 64-bit processes being too large for the storage of cartridges in many cases. 32-bits was generally good enough for their 3D rendering. The PS2 never had "128/512-bit" capabilities in the same sense as we're using for these processors. To start with, I don't believe the PS2 had any "512-bit" capabilities at all. The most I can think of is a 512-bit wide read/write eDRAM bus, but this is completely unrelated to the processor and also wasn't anything of particular note. The "128-bit" capabilities had nothing to do with the processor architecture or even the memory bus, and was instead representative of the size of scalar and vector registers which the processor made use of. This was certainly impressive for the time, and absolutely was taken advantage of, but doesn't quite mean the same thing as what you tried to apply it to for modern computers. Modern processors absolutely use registers far in excess of 256 or 512 bits in spite of having a 64-bit architecture, and this is actually done fairly regularly. The reason we don't use architectures in excess of 64-bits is because it's largely unnecessary for consumer computing, because there simply is no need for our programs to actually calculate an integer that unimaginably huge. Larger registries for vectors and floating points are still used though.

Brilliant explanation. In my humble opinion, this era we are living in is the most exciting of all human history; aside from possibly the very first couple hundred years in Sumeria or Ancient Egypt when our species was close enough to our origins to know what they are. Quantum Computing is such an endearing human venture to witness as it advances. How adorable, in the truest sense of the word, is mankind's plight to omnisciently harness our creative faculties toward mainstreaming physical manifestation of anything and everything observable from the subconscious stream of the very specific nothings and somethings which atomically and molecularly serve as the infrastructure of the ether and the all. To suggest the "universe abhors a vacuum" is a fundamental failure to recognize that the universe was created in and of a vacuum, itself. As Uncle Joey used to say, "Science, Bitches!"

A qubit can be 360x360 variables at once. 2 qubits can evaluate 360° and a variable for each ° in a horizontal placement, and 360 in the vertical placement × 2 qubits; or 3;4;5. Is that right? which is fucking scary... I know they are closest to a true Q computer but they havent come up with an algorythm that can utilize the full potential of the processing power - if they could then there is no networked system they can't hack into. They could shut down the power grid, disable any technology including planes, drones, ships, tanks and disrupt all communications to easily invade and conquer any and every country on earth.

Basically, a quantum computer would be working with itself in every universe where it was created. It would be the first bridge between realities and use those realities to function.

i generally believe the theories on Quantum Mechanics to be mostly correct, but Quantum Computing is simply not feasible, and Quantum Mechanics itself shows that. we are limited by too many factors for it to be a worry to anyone born 50 years from now as far as implications for cryptography etc are concerned. insane cooling requirements (approaching 0K) but then, ok you have some 'quantum bits',but you still need to implement the logic portion of this cpu, the bus, the registers, everything has to be implemented in a physical real world component and we are seeing that modern processors are approaching the wall as far as how small you can get the traces on the chip. AMD is down to 7nm with success Apple as well, and Intel is just slightly behind preparing to bring their 10nm to full production. this race to the bottom is almost done we can only get so much smaller. The theory that a quantum computer could break cryptography by being able to factor to infinity in any human lifetime is simply vaporware, invest in quantum study, but quantum computing should be viewed as snake oil. Change my mind.

I assume applications that are using fuzzy logic would benefit the use of qubits. Quantum computers would therefore be good for quantum physics simulators and probably emergent AI and neural nets. I would also assume that there will be difficulty in combining quantum computations with storage complex problems or KB's (if we don't have a way for the qubits to store information, likely not possible the way computer drives work), hence if it were to be used in AI, it would likely benefit in real time environments.

Sean compared quantum computing to analog instead of digital. All living things operate on an analog system. One of the greatest breakthroughs Texas Instruments has accomplished is a chip that converts our analog voice to digital for transmission and digital back to analog for reception almost at the speed of light. I've always believed we will eventually develop our computers to function analog faster and better than digital.

Ive heard two things in this. 1. The government will have a massive vested interest in the ability to quickly decrypt otherwise unbreakable encryption methods. 2. This explanation suggests that there are endless possibilities in q bits but on a long enough timeline, the has to be composed of 100% of either 0 and 1 and thus when he talks about upsetting an entanglement by touching it from outside...i think that more likely just causes a different entanglement...even if it isnt quantifiable.
