I’ve been 348 pounds for about a year now. Used to be able to eat 5 jack in the box entrees just for dinner alone plus whatever I would have for lunch and breakfast and snacking constantly. Back in April starting on the 12th I started making changes to my diet including spiralized vegetables in place of pasta and cauliflower rice in place of regular rice in addition to cutting out most bread and lactose and cutting down a lot on sugar plus I drink acv every day. Today I weighed in at 301 pounds. My goal was to get below 300 by September 20th(beginning of fall). Thanks to these simple changes and now only eating 1-2 meals a day, I am less hungry, have created a caloric deficit, exercise daily, and I will be shattering my goal by almost a month. After I get below 300, my new goal will be 275 by the end of the year.

I struggled with weight growing up, I drank a lot of soda, I weighed 215 in 8th grade, was 6 foot 2+ but, when I got to be an adult I got in great shape. Last year in December I went to the doctor, I weighed 300 pounds. I couldn't believe it, the most shocking part was that the doctor was obese himself and didn't even mention it. I knew then I had to do something. But I continued to do the same things I had been doing. I was speaking to a coworker one day and said, yeah, I eat horrible food every day and it makes me feel like sh!t, it made me open my eyes seriously. I took a long look in the mirror, lost 100 pounds and feel like I'm in my twenties again. I have a toddler, and want to set the best example I can. Another thing that helped was coaching my son's tee-ball team. Those kids 3-4 year olds, didn't care about baseball, didn't even know what it was, but every day we played or practiced, they tried their hardest. I said why don't I do that? Anyway, as you can probably imagine, my life has improved, my relationship with my significant other has improved, I'm a better parent, worker, and person. Diet really matters.

I would rather be too thin than be fat. I will not eat myself into fat. I was always thin then i got sick and it caused me to gain weight. I am now taking it serious to get the weight off. I will never go back to eating. I eat so little, lettuce, veggies maybe a tiny piece of chicken breast. I eat only once a day and very little. A person can get use to not eating much and learn to ignore the hunger pains. I will not go back to being fat. I weigh 180 and i find it horrific. I am losing weight now a whole 20 pounds in a short time ( few weeks ). I will keep going and never go back to fat again. I am 57 years old this year and finding it almost unbearable to live being old. I went through the change 3 years ago. Getting the fat off under huge stress is also hard and i am dealing with that. Anyhow, i rather starve than be fat. I will get down to 110 pounds maybe 120 and i am 5 foot 5 inches. *

For me losing weight was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I lost 70 pounds in 6 months ( from 230 to 160 ) . Good thing I’ve been able to maintain a healthy weight since then using a good diet/ good exercise routine . But it was so hard at the beginning , People say it’s easy to just “ put the fork down “ or to just “ stop eating this and that “ but in reality it’s no where close to being that easy especially when your diet is really bad and you eat a lot. Honestly the only reason why I was able to go on my diet in the first place and last throughout it was because I started to have stomach problems so I had to. If it wasn’t for the stomach problems I probably would have stayed the way I was .

My doctor told me not to go low-carb and just count calories even though I was showing signs of insulin resistance. She also told me not to worry so much about building muscle or exercising because weight loss is 90% diet. I’m a 5’2 woman with PCOS and I was gaining weight eating 1200 calories a day, and going for a jog 3 times per week. I followed doctors orders despite this and ended up with nutrient deficiencies and ovarian cysts. My cortisol levels were also borderline too high. My doctor assumed I was lying about diet and exercise. I’m so glad I actually learned about endocrinology and nutrition in college enough that I could read into the latest research and eventually understand that my doctor’s advice was ridiculous. I needed to improve my sensitivity to insulin by taking inositols, building muscle, doing yoga, eating low carb, intermittent fasting, eating anti-inflammatory foods and managing stress. I can eat 1400-1600 calories per day and still be in a deficit now that my insulin resistance, vitamin deficiencies and inflammation are addressed. Work smarter before you work harder! And don’t assume your doctor is up-to-date on the latest research!

Yeah just means you have more work to do. The amount of calories someone needs to sustain their body mass can vary up to 30% by person. That's huge. I'm average size and my body runs on about 1600 kcal. Gotta go to around 1400 to start loosing weight. Meanwhile by every account I should be having a 400 calorie deficit at 1600 but nope. Just gotta work extra hard. And building muscle mass helps burn more at rest.

What they say in the first 2 minutes is SO TRUE! A guy I went to college with lost like 50 pounds because instead of consuming 2500 calories in one meal once a day, he started consuming those 2500 calories in smaller meals over the course of the day. Gave him more energy during the day so he started doing more physical things like going on walks more. It’s so true that sometimes, overweight people are not eating an insane amount compared to others. Just eating incorrectly.
@mdskydive7245
5 ай бұрын
For me and many many thousands of others, eating once a day or eating in a small window of time has had the same effect. It is not wrong, and I am not saying eating many times a day is wrong. Although eating many times a day spikes your insulin many times a day which makes it harder to lose weight for many many people. I broke my back and gained tons of weight because of the inactivity. Went to intermittent fasting and cut way back on carbs and lost over 40 pounds while recovering and with zero exercise. Lost even more now that I can move. So there are many ways to lose weight and the intermittent fasting is just one large very proven method that works. It is just as important what you eat as to when you eat. 2,000 calories of high carbs can slam the weight on you much faster than 2,000 calories of healthy fats and low carbs. Calories are not all alike.

I didn’t lose weight unless I ate less than a thousand calories a day. I imagine it’s different for everyone. It took me two and a half years and I lost 165 lbs. that was 8 years ago. A great thing about creating a diet for a certain length of time is how it translates your mood into creating more disclipline for yourself in other fields. Organising and rearranging that one aspect of your life will spill into other areas of your life and improve them. For example, you get up earlier, or start becoming more productive with your time. Take up a new hobbies, begin new projects - because food becomes a substinence and no longer an indulgence to you. This will have a positive impact on your hormone levels. So for many, including me, our diet is our discipline. Which diet did I take? "Zero" carb, for a month. Eating was hella boring, but taking up excercise felt like the best compliment for it. I lost practically a stone in 2 weeks.

I set a goal of losing ideally 40 lbs but realistically 20 lbs at the beginning of summer and now at the end I'm down 36, from 364 to 328. I'm hoping for 315 by the end of the year. Most people lose weight easier in warmer weather but I'm the opposite as I struggle with sweet drinks to help with the heat, and replace it with unsweetened tea in cold weather. So I'm hopeful! My end goal is to be 220 in 4-5 years. I have a broad frame and I am some what taller so a somewhat muscular 220 would be a good weight for me, not looking to be in model shape, I'm in my mid thirties and have been hit by to many injuries and illnesses to delude myself with that being realistic for me. A stocky build is doable and vastly better than I am now. Replacing pasta with unprocessed grains and potatoes, way upping my fat intake, focusing on protein and reducing carbs to a realistic degree.

I'm a medical student who recently learned about everything he just talked about. The thing I've realized as a medical student is you don't need to be a medical student to understand this stuff (at least with wikipedia on hand). Just need to sit down (with some good learning material...like my favorite go to source, wikipedia) and work it out. I used to be critical of morbidly obese people, but now I am starting to realize staying a healthy weight and body composition is much more difficult for some people They didn't go into how our brains are wired. In our hypothalamus we have what is called the lateral nucleus that makes us hungry and the ventromedial nucleus which makes us not hungry. If either one of those is destroyed (as happens sometimes in a stroke) the affected individual will feel either extreme hunger or no hunger at all. These nuclei are in turn stimulated or inhibited by ghrelin (makes you hungry) and leptin (makes you full). No person's brain is the same, so it's a given people will differ in how much hunger they feel. I for example AM ALWAYS HUNGRY. Two of my uncles were morbidly obese and died from that (one at 48 yrs and the other at 55 yrs). Most of my family members are obese. I used to be obese. I had grown up with all this bullshit advice that "you need to eat breakfast to be healthy" and eat well so your brain can function. Bullshit. Out brains do just fine using ketone bodies (from fat) instead of glucose (sugar) for energy (unless we are diabetic (don't produce enough/any insulin) as explained in the youtube clip). Anyways, I lost 40 pounds in a year and now my BMI is 24 (down from 30) and am very healthy. However I am ALWAYS HUNGRY. I can eat two gallons of ice cream in a day and still be hungry. How did I bring my weight to a healthy weight? =>By restricting my calorie intake through intermittent fasting (I eat 1-2 times a day and sometimes don't eat at all some days). Does that mean I am not hungry? No, far from it. So please, if its not hard for you to keep off weight don't judge those who do struggle. It may be a 100x harder for them to not eat. That said, if you are like me (always hungry) accept that you have to have some mild hunger most of the time in order to not become obese. Nothing is wrong with you, it's just that your ancestors must have evolved an overactive lateral nucleus in your hypothalamus in order to not have starved to death (hunger can be a powerful motivator in pushing a person or animal to get food). I knew one personal trainer who had one non-negotiable rule. He was asking his clients if they were willing to change their eating habits by eating cleaner and healthier and in the beginning, even go with stricter diet. If they weren’t willing to change their diet, he wasn’t accepting those customers, even if they wanted to pay a lot of money. He knew how important of a role the food played in achieving results.

That's actually a good business move on his part as well. Those clients that were willing to change their diet on average lost so much more weight compared to their counter parts that weren't willing. For me, I really had to push it to the extreme. It was either go extreme or do nothing. I work out the upper body every Monday and Thursday, each workout has a cardio workout either elliptical or treadmill for about 15-20 minutes before actually lifting. Each weight train has to have a minimal of 15 specific exercises and starts with a great Battle Rope and Med Ball Slam routine. The Battle Rope usually runs about 8-10 for 40 seconds each of sets where I change the style of rope swinging. For instance, I do squat high waves for one, then do the next on my knees, then the third I do a rope slam (santa waves), outside curls and then inside curls. Usually I pick one to do three times in a row between med ball slams. But then I go into lifting where I do 12-15 different lifts 3 sets with 8-10 reps each. Then later on in the day I do either a mile breaststroke swim or jog 2-3 miles at a 12-13 minute a mile pace. Tuesdays is leg day where I intro a 20-30 minute on elliptical/treadmill. I still do ropes but change it to jump squat waves, side lunge waves, russian twist waves. Then into typical dumbbell/cable/barbell exercises with about three machines. 3 sets with 10 reps each on that. Usually I try to do as many leg exercises to where it's about 12. But then I finish off the workout with a good 2 mile run. Wednesday and Fridays is always my HIIT days. Before HIIT I do a good 20 min elliptical where I keep a good 140-150 strides a min. Or I try to do a 10 min mile on the treadmill. HIIT is a class... so it is mainly 6 series. In each series we have one cardio exercises and then one weight exercise, 3 sets each for about 40 seconds. So that comes to 6 sets in one series. In between each set is a 10 or 15 second rest. These exercises are based upon whatever the trainer decides to do that day. Sometimes he focuses on arms one day. Legs another and then core on another. It all depends. But those HIIT's are amazing. I have an active calorie burn goal of 750 a day and I hit that 750 pretty quick. My heart rate is running at a good 150-155 by the second series and I feel great. Saturdays is strictly cardio. So I do a 5K club at my gym where we run 3.10 miles in the morning. Then I usually go to a spin class where I've been progressively getting much better. I can actually maintain a station 3 setting for a while without wanting to kill myself. At the end of the spin, I might do a 20 min elliptical or a nice mile breaststroke swim and then call it a day. Sundays is usually a rest day, but I do like to swim a good mile in the morning and then a nice two mile walk at night with the wife. But I tend to do that two mile walk every single night each day as well. When it comes to food. I do eat a great deal of protein and if you're lifting this is real important. I take vitamin D every morning I chug whey shakes. I love eggs and turkey sausage for breakfast. But also go with a high protein Kelloggs cereal with Almond milk. I stay away from bad sugars though, which isn't too bad. Fruits like apples and bananas actually start to taste way better when you abandon crappy sugars like candy. Recently I have developed an obsession over georgia peaches and since I live in Florida... I get them by the plenty. I eat a lot of raw fish cause sushi is from the Lord. Seriously the best stuff on the planet. I try to eat as little rice as I can with, but its such a good combo. I love grilled chicken cut up and put into a salad. For the most part I don't stay away from pastas and good spices in food. I might have a cheat day once a week where I slam a soda or get some ice cream with the family. I snack in between big meals with things like cheese and half an avocado. Maybe a spoonful of peanut butter or popcorn. This is all just summaries. I tend not to overthink the food stuff. Really the best thing is to avoid alcohol. It may bother people but it's a good thing to do. I'm married and my wife is working out everyday as well, so we do it a lot. Then we sleep. I never stay awake past 10:00 pm. anymore and I will be up by 6 or 6:30... depending on if it's summer break for my kids schooling. I might sleep in on Sunday for maybe an extra hour... but that's only if there is no light shining into the room. Oh yea, drink loads of water. Just go insane in drinking as much water as you can during the day.

The main takeaway; High Stress = Fat. This is incredibly accurate. I’ve been exercising properly and intensely for many years, eat very clean, all my vitals are ideal for my age and my doctor even said I have “above average cardio levels for my age” (24y/o man). However, I have severe stress which makes me looks chubby, especially around my midsection and face. But I’ll notice when my stress levels go down, I lean up quite significantly. When they go up, I puff back up.

I started at 314 lbs and I didn't really feel that bad, I had my friends and family who loved me and I was known as funny big brother. and then one day my younger brother wanted my help on a math problem. he's on the second floor of my house. by the time I got up the stairs I had a tight shortness of breath. I started seeing spots and I had to take a breather. I am supposed to be the example and I was being weak. so I finally bought a scale and every day I jogged as far as I could and walk back. I only drank water and only ate once my stomach really growled. it's been about 5 months and I'm down to 246 lbs. it was hard and my shins hurt and my stomach never growled much but It's been progress. I do feel better and stairs don't scare me as they used to but the reason I did it was so I could keep being the funny big brother and not the dead big brother in 15,10 or 5 years. I know it's gonna be a life struggle but you gotta do it for yourself and the people that love you. do it for them man.

Read Dr.Atkins book titled Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. He explains ketosis and low carb dieting very thoroughly in this book, it's so easy to understand. Its the book my dad followed to loose 275 lb in a year and 2 months. He kept with low carb eating, he ate all the meat and fat he wanted and got healthy. He started with zero carbs and no caffeine for a week to get the body into the state of ketosis. He used Keto Sticks they are urine test strips. After the first week he gradually added more carbs but not exceeding 40 grams of carbs per day through out his weight loss journey. If the body is in the state of ketosis it can not store fat it can only shed fat and other toxic weight so he ate all the fat and calories he wanted to keep himself satisfied while ketosing. There is no need to count calories as long as you are keeping your carb intake low enough to keep you ketosing. Forty grams of carbs per day is a recommended limit to keep the body in the state of ketosis. If you have a cheat day or cheat meal your body may stop ketosing because of overconsumption of carbs so all you have to do after a cheat day is start over by eating zero carbs and no caffeine for a week to get yourself back into a nice deep ketosis. Caffeine spikes insulin thus slowing weighloss so some people restrict it completely even after the first week to avoid slowed weightloss. Eating fat , especially rich animal fats , while ketosing causes the body to ketose more heavily, provides energy, satisfies appetite healthily, lubricates intestines , eyes and skin and is crucial for organ function including the brain. Animal meats should not be restricted either they are too important for replenishing the muscles and organs. Also, no colon cleansers are needed on a diet that causes the body to ketose, in fact it can be detrimental. I made that mistake and almost killed my kidneys it hurt so bad so I quit colon cleansers while keto dieting and I felt so much better. Ketosis causes the body to naturally cleanse itself including the colon. The body works hard enough while ketosing to shed weight on its own. There are veggies allowed in the first week about 1 cup per day they are practically zero carb. They are listed in Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution book. He also wrote a book giving carb count content of many foods to help you stay on track. I've read both of these books. Keto Sticks are urine test strips. Test every day. If your test shows pink/purple color it means you're ketosing. The darker the pink/purple color means the heavier you're ketosing meaning the faster you are loosing weight. If your test shows no pink/purple color it means you are not ketosing not loosing weight but gaining weight so you have to keep eating zero carbs and no caffeine until pink/purple color shows on your test. Eating practically zero carbs for a week should get your body into deep ketosis. Sorry to repeat myself but I hope this info helps people loose weight fast like my dad did. I don't rely on the Atkins foods for weightloss though because I don't like the sweeteners and other ingredients in alot of them. I mostly eat meat, fat, low carb veggies and low carb fruit ,nuts not so many cashews, unlimited butter, full fat sour cream and mayo. I pray you understand it completely in Jesus' name. God's blessings to ya! 😉

Although sometimes it feels as if nothing changed, cause nobody except my family knows and kids at school still make fun of me and even outside of school ive been told to kill myself because of the way I look, so it almost doesnt feel real and it feels like im the same as i was before, anyway the reason im writing this post is to say that if anybody else is going through a similar situation of mine then please know that you can do it, no matter what others tell you.

In that video he mentioned how insulin is the key hormone. There is a doctor who has treated about 1000 severly overweigh patients and none of them have needed surgery to remove excess skin when finished. Here is the two websites heaps of FREE and usefull information www.dietdoctor.com/ and idmprogram.com/ There is heaps on youtube search dr jason fung.. The key is intermittent fasting . The reason is becasue insulin is the energy storage hormone. Every meal lifts insulin. Making it hard to loose weight. If you eat 3 times a day and cut carbs as well. Becasue insulin gets a regular lift, 2 things happen 1 you loose weight 2 your metbolism also slows down. 2 is bad long term.. Where if you do intermittent fasting, your insulin drops, its easier to use fat and so your metabolism does NOT slow down. Also your body will breakdown the excess skin as you shrink. Also you can do intermittent fasting even if you cant exercise. Check with your doctor if you are on medication especially any disbeties medicine. This is really important some diabeties medicines will make you severly sick if you fast. Its working really well for me. I hope this really helps.

In the past one to two years I’ve gone down to 190lbs from 360lbs. I didn’t want to lose weight, I have and failed in the past, I knew I had to change my lifestyle as a whole. For as long as I can remember, say around 3 years old I have been overweight (I’m 20 now) and it’s taken a huge toll on me obviously physically, but greater mentally and emotionally (suffered from severe depression, my weight play a large part). The first four months of my journey I started drinking more water, attempting on doing pushups and intermittent fasting every day (16/8), just being healthier. I lost a good chunk of weight though I cannot recall the exact amount (literally never checked the scale), I was impressed with the results but not content. I began to incorporate walking every day into my daily routine along with squats and planks. I became a lot less frequent in fasting but started eating better generally and being more cautious of what I consumed. It is insane, nowadays I look at what people eat, stuff I used to eat, and am baffled knowing how bad particular foods are for your body. It should be a crime of how unaware people are of the shit being consumed on a regular daily basis. These foods have been stapled apart of our lives in the media and made so normalized that most struggle to or can’t even comprehend the vastness of the problem. Continuing with my weight loss, for the past 8 months (COVID inspired me to work harder) I have been weight training, walking, doing yoga, and HITT workouts in my weekly routines; along with drinking lots of water and eating whole foods rather than the junk, I used to consume. I feel so healthy now physically and am a lot more stable mentally and emotionally. Though the work I put in physically made a massive difference, I strongly believe the changes I made nutritiously played a larger part in my journey. I never ate THAT much, but what I’d eat was literal garbage, whether it be granola bars/sugary snacks, big portions of refined carbs, and just other processed foods I didn’t know were so bad for me. When looking back on my journey I am so proud of what I’ve accomplished and learned so many things I will incorporate into my lifestyle in the span of my life. I encourage everyone who made it this far in this post to truly analyze what you do and make healthy changes to your lifestyle (eating better, working. The feeling of wellness you will receive is unbelievable and something I wish everyone could witness and live by. The foods I used to be addicted to, whether fast food or refined carb or sugar foods mentioned above I do not even think of having today. Knowing how bad they actually are for me disgusts me and I don’t miss them. I went from being a morbidly obese, depressed person that never thought what I have done would be possible. I decided to make a change in my life and slowly saw changes that motivated me more. Amidst my journey, I inspired my younger brother to lose weight to which he lost 60lbs. I have changed my life and don’t ever see myself going back to what I once was. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you are going through, you must be the change you want to see. Whether it be losing weight or breaking a bad habit it all starts with you. Change doesn’t happen overnight; it is something you have to live by. You don’t just eat well for a month and expect to be healthy forever, you have got to make it a lifestyle. Each and every one of us has the power to make a change, big or small, and by being courageous and pushing through the hardships of what life throws at us you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. Your abilities as a human being are endless, respect, embrace and love the individuality you contain as a being. Be healthy and live happily. Don't take shit from anyone live your best life, stay blessed! (this was way longer of a post I thought it was gonna be, I never write comments idk what came over me 😂😂)

Lets not forget that it is difficult to find a prepared food in the US that does not contain some form of added sugar.

Then prepare it yourself. It allows you to make your own serving size and gets you to do other things then sitting on the couch.

sean the problem comes with cost. It’s less expensive to buy junk than to buy shit from the store. That’s just a fact

@@SAMSARALIVEEEEEE not really, you just have to buy nutritious 1 ingredient foods. Even if it still cost more then junk it cost less in terms of medical surgeries.

cartesian plane Well most people don’t see it in that way. They just think “cheaper food? i’ll buy it either way since i’m already poor as shit”.
