The part around 3:54 is SO difficult for a non solo section because its a HUGE stretch played very fast. The solo itself is very difficult(paticularly the part after the blues phrasing using C# phrygian dominant). I spend a long time on theory and scales just because of Joe! And I have become WAY better since then! Thanks Joe!

He doesn't play a I IV V, though I think the riff he is playing was inspired by it (It's in Gm btw not Gb). First progression is in G minor to and he uses Dorian mostly over it. The Chorus is in E minor and then when the solo kicks in he moves to C# phrygian. After that he switches to Phrygian Dominant which doesn't have a minor but a major third. Hope this clears things up.

by picking the string with the hand and the pick at the same time (harmonic note) and then play with the whammy bar to get various sounds
@Dav2112
16 жыл бұрын
its a pinched harmonic on an open string while the whammy bar is depressed with the left hand, then he lets the whammy go back up to its original floating point, or sometimes beyond to get that really cool sound... It isn't really hard to do with a little bit of practice...
@angryutuber001

If you mean 4:04, he is picking the first note, and then using hammer-ons and pull-offs while using the trem.
@RsGhost1
14 жыл бұрын
@680540 The song is not in E flat it's in G minor. He starts playing C# phrygian when the C# phrygian chord progression comes into play right when the solo starts, he's just changing the key to something entirely different. So the key temporarily changes to C# phrygian/phrygian dominant. Maybe I explained poorly, only the main part of the song is in G minor, the chorus is in E minor and the solo is in C# phrygian. So he changes the key twice.

it's fairly easy(and its at the 22 ;) ). just hold the pick as if your holding it when picking strings, just slightly tighter. Use the edge of the pick to hammer on at the 22nd fret and just go down the scale with the left(see tabs or something if you cant figure it out). Doing this motion with the right hand should be effortless even without any practice.

Its Actually an Ibanez JS2 PRM. Basically its the 2nd generation 'chromeboy'. Only a very limited number were produced. If you want to buy one it will be second hand, and generally a collectors item, not a playing instrument as the finish will damage from just looking at it the wrong way. But an amazing intrument. If you can find one for sale expect to pay anything from $5500 to 10000 US.

Perhaps he was referencing a cross over point in his modulation :) I play all the modes into one tossed salad ( I call it the Tripion Mode). at times I am going through all 7 modes in one song. in the key of A minor for example you can blaze through all the modes in one song. I do this in a variety of ways I will also play scale runs by skiping every other note and then go back to the one I skiped. example key A minor instead of playing the scale A,b,c,d,e,f,g I play A,c,b,d,c,e,d,f,e,g
