Yes. This is another one where it could have been interesting, and JR once again hijacks the podcast to talk about irrelevant subject matter. He's been doing it a lot lately. This feels like the place to mention that I once fought a whitetail buck rutting in my yard. Ran up on me in the garden that just had netting for fence so it had a lot of net tangled and there was a tree mostly between us that I could get behind. It was enough of a 'fight' that I grabbed both of its antlers while it skinned my forearms and thumbs on the bark of the tree thrashing around, but I kept ahold of it thinking it wouldn't be able to get around. Even in hindsight I like to think I could have bashed its head on the tree or got it to break an antler, but I really couldn't do anything but lean back and hold on while trying to keep my wrists from getting twisted off. Also, if I had done nothing it might have left me alone. I was pretty scratched up but its forehead was bleeding from where it had scraped itself. Managed a couple seconds of tug of war when it tried to rear up and then had to leg go when it kept tugging. It stumbled back but didn't even fall on two legs. I started throwing dirt in its face and it finally moved off. Animals are all the toughest, dumbest drunk guy you've ever seen. Now I just use bear spray on everything, even fawns. They should have stayed extinct.

About 30yrs ago I was at the San Francisco Zoo and a Spider Monkey reached it hand thru the cage and I decided to shake hands with it. As soon as it got a grip on my hand, it pulled straight back, faster and much stronger than I could've imagined, and I pulled my whole arm thru the cage until my shoulder stopped it because it was too big to go thru the bars. I'm 6'1", 230lbs, with a strong upper body, and I was instantly shocked that a 10-15lb Spider Monkey had that kind of upper body strength to pull me like a ragdoll. Of course, I was totally relaxed and unaware of its violent intention, but I learned instantly to never underestimate a small primate, and I'd better be on my full and best fight mode if I ever encountered one outside of a cage.
