Joe Venuti is one of the best jazz violin players that we had. Of course Lino Patruno cannot swing at his level... Btw as a jazz violin player myself, I have to admit that Venuti invented many many things. I remember I saw a video back in the days (unfortunately I cannot find it anymore online) where he was playing classical music, specifically a Paganini caprice. I can say that Joe Venuti is probably the most complete violinist who ever lived on this planet

I saw Joe Venuti at his hotel show (Olympia?) in Seattle around 1972 while on tour with Tony Bennett (I'm a violinist too). What a gas!
