Miles had the best mathematical timing . He knew exactly when to interact with the other soloist, to cut off their break, at the necessary time. Like a band leader.

Never get tired of hearing Joey. We are lucky to be living in this time and see mind blowing legends. Each time I hear him, my consciousness melts with inability to comprehend savant musical abilities that astound and mesmerize. Miles spent the last two decades of his life playing a genre of music that could only be called Miles Davis. It didn't fit neatly into jazz or rock. But one thing never changed for his whole career, and that was how he insisted on playing with the most talented and promising young musicians like Joey, Marcus Miller, etc. He had planned on working with Jimi and Michael Jackson, but it just didn't work out. If he had lasted a few more years, he might have worked with Tupac. Joey was a better musician for having worked with the master. And we're fortunate to have Joey's canon of fantastic and timeless albums to continue on after his death.
