Elisabeth of Austria is one of my favorite queens of all time! The movie based on her life was a 1950’s movie and I saw it when I was a child . What a gorgeous movie that was, absolutely exquisite! That’s when I fell in love with Strauss waltzes! Love them all. God bless the souls of all these geniuses great composers from a beautiful time where romance existed. Simplesmente linda! Recordar os filmes "Sissi" ambientados na Áustria do Século XIX, do Kaiser Fraz Joseph, a quem se dedicou esta valsa.

This is one of my all time favorites by Johann Strauss:Emperor Waltz Op. by 437 by the world famous Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Several years, back I had the opportunity to hear this wonderful orchestra play a live concert in Berlin, Germany.

I like it, but overall, I prefer the Blue Danube and Sphaerenklaenge by Richard Strauss. But I love waltzes generally, and the occasional polka.

@@misskitty285 "Music of the Spheres" is by Josef Strauss, Johann II's younger brother. Richard Strauss was no relation to the Vienna Strausses.

I stay here thinking, nowadays, a single keyboard and a computer program can practically reproduce an entire orchestra. But what was it like then? The composer had to write the scores instrument by instrument, how long it took until the final result, how did he get the musicians together, how did they rehearse? That's why they were considered geniuses

Some of the great composers lost hearing later in their life (Beethoven, Smetana off the top of my head) but still continued writing. To think they wrote down the music they heard in their head - without ever hearing anyone else reproducing it, without being able to sound out the melody or the harmony - instrument by instrument for an entire orchestra - that's incredible talent. Or perhaps it shows the incredible talent and passion behind their work.

Technology doesn’t replace musical ability; it’s just a tool. Any composer worth his salt, then and now, has the ability to conceive of and hear music in his head.
