Redd Foxx was so loyal to people who helped him out that believe it or NOT, ALL the people who were in this segment, Jack Carter, Kitty Lester and host John Barbour ALL appeared on episodes of Sanford And Son!!!!

You’re 100% right. Thank u for mentioning that. He put a lot of people on. People that Hollywood forgot, dismissed or never got a break, Redd brought them in and gave them bit parts on “Sanford and Son”.

Redd Foxx was a treasure. Not simply for the African-American community. He was a treasure for all of us who enjoyed the art of comedy, of quality entertainment itself. We should all be grateful someone made the effort of paving the way. Comedy is what it is today because of visionaries like Foxx, Pryor, and Carlin. They were the pioneers. But not just Foxxy here. So is Barbour. He himself was one of the founding fathers of reality television. His Emmys and his Golden Mike speak for themselves. He's not just a news man--he's a comedian too. He also won honors for his JFK documentary. Barbour seems to have done it all. A force to be reckoned with. The man is... dangerous... A force to be reckoned with. Take heed...

Red made a interesting point about the host commentary about black militant groups by his response. That he would buy the buildings where they held meetings as well as the white militant groups. Genius.

How did Spike Lee fail to include these stories in 92 🤦🏾♂️ We need a new Malcolm x movie, not that spike did a bad job, but the Earl Little to Detroit Red story needs to told!!!

i know what you mean, but spike's movie was still 3 hours & 20 minutes ...... he could not have possibly put in everything, plus i am sure, he had to get clearance from Malcolm's family as well.

According to Wikipedia, John Barbour got his first talk show in 1971 - shortly before SANFORD & SON started. Redd had appeared on the Johnny Carson and Merv Griffin shows as early as 1965, and done a lot of other TV besides. He'd even done his "before it gets ripe" joke on Merv's show (there used to be a clip of that on KZitem - seems to be gone now), and Barbour is very obviously setting it up here, so... not exactly an "ad lib"! By the way, is that Jerry Hubbard (Fred Willard) introducing the show?
