Glad I found this video because I'm considering JCT. if you have a referral for bonus comment to me and I'll tell the recruiter!

We do get referral bonuses, but I don't worry about whether or not onboarding drivers use me as a referral. If they do...great. If not, it really doesn't matter to me. What's more important to me is that drivers have the right information to work with to make a more well informed decision on whether JCT is the right carrier for their longer term needs. Everybody in the recruiting office knows me too, so even just mentioning my name to whoever you talk to is often all that's needed.

Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions you need help getting answers to. I'm a straight shooter and am not concerned with racking up referral bonuses. What's important is you and others knowing what you'll be getting yourselves into before making any decisions.

Your video breakdown on the spreadsheet opened my eyes as to what i can really do at JCT. i almost went over 2 years ago but pussed out last minute. I am seriously reconsidering doing this now with JCT, but im comparing it to Hurricane Express lease purchase for a pete 389. I believe everything in your video but, the weekly miles of 3000 and up i highly doubt. Every company promises that until your ass is in the seat and your only realky doing 2000-2200.
@ScottZane

An average week for me is around 3150 or so. I can give you my yearly miles ran also, but will have to offer a caveat that the miles include down time due to scheduled time off and/or because of my truck being in the shop. I usually get somewhere around 140K paid miles per year. The drivers who only get 2000-2200 miles/week are almost certain refusing a lot of loads they don't like and making it even harder on themselves. The guy who trained me drives for Hurricane. He's got a pretty good sized TikTok following of over 10K people, if you want to get in touch with him. His TikTok name is @AveragePapa.

I ran 82k miles in Q2 and Q3 combined. Even with 2.5 weeks of unscheduled downtime, i ran an average of 3300 a week. If you can prove you can run, they'll let you. I'm actually one of the harder runners they have. 4k mile weeks aren't even uncommon for me. I usually get one once a month.

If you plan on taking time off , can you not turn in a few trips until that week you are off to help cover your payment? Like working your way into week in hand
@ScottZane
2 жыл бұрын
They want all Tripsheets to be scanned and submitted within 24hrs after completing the trip. What I try to do is keep an extra week's worth of basic needs money in my bank account - or at least enough to get by for another week just before the next settlement comes in. I also try to sideline about 25% of my takehome each week into my investment account. That keeps enough on hand for taxes at the end of the year, and I can invest it in the meantime, or have access to it still, if in a pinch. If you don't run at all, the truck payment is only $120 that week, so you won't be in the hole nearly as deep as you would with no miles paying on a traditional lease.

How much is breakdown pay?
@ScottZane
2 жыл бұрын
If you're asking about trailer repair pay, it's $40/hr, from the time you arrive at a repair facility to the time repairs are complete. If you're talking about breakdown pay for tractor breakdowns, there is no breakdown pay for lease/ops. For company drivers, I'm honestly not sure what they get paid for breakdowns. I would have to ask about that one.

What you don't factor in that Net take home of $80,000 is you have to take taxes out of that. So your making less than that per year.
@ScottZane
2 жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter if you're taking home all of $80K and getting taxed on it later, or if you're making $80K elsewhere and getting taxed on it every pay period. The tax burden at the end of the year is still the same. Difference is, I can sideline my "tax" money into my investment account and make even more money from it before it's time to pay the tax man. Net income that is reportable to the IRS is still $80K regardless.
