Wynton Kelly - the swingiest pianist of that era. As Miles Davis once said when Wynton was playing with his band, "I wish I could swing like that."

I finally get to see how Chambers actually soloed with a bow. That double bass was actually a baroque double bass.

my best friend bass player who i used to tour with as a drummer, ( just before i made my first documentary film JazzTown & Who Killed Jazz now on AppleTV and Amazon Prime) just sent me this link: i wrote back to him that flicking hit the spot G! thanks man that was perfect timing what a great tune and it's so refreshing to go back and listen to Coltrane he played with so much soul and emotion ... truth,,, I was just listening to a Danny McCaslin solo last night technically amazing and I have heard him play solos that really move me but this time it was just such aggressive technique and when I heard the opening chorus of Coltrane solo here I just breathe this deep sigh I could feel so much coming through coltranes horn and this damn piano solo and those locomotive steam engine notes that just keep coming out amazing lines and then that bowed bass solo, holy shit! That is supreme Boeing and there are some links there that are extremely intense and almost hilarious I believe he's got a wonderful sense of humor maybe it's just the nature of glissando on the bass but that's an amazing solo - such intonation at speed! and maybe I don't get out enough anymore today but I don't hear many guys playing bass I mean bowed bass solos like that today. Do you!? Who is playing bowed bass solos like that today ? www.vimeo.com/ondemand/whokilledjazz

It's in Germany from their European tour, Miles got sick that night so it was just the four of them. There are some fantastic recordings of that tour, particularly Miles/Trane live in Stockholm, Sweden. It's my favorite Trane of all time.
