Got give him BIG BALLS to come out with the group in PINK and he let er rip in spins and all....in the beginning of the 80's we were just starting to think where are we going! LUCKILY I caught the Cougar Band LIVE with Heart as Backup at the Castle in Charlevoix Michigan that year on a blistering HOT early summer evening and MAN DID WE ROCK! Everytime and I mean EVERYTIME I head over the river (I live on the Canadian Side of the Border in Canada) into the US there's NEVER a time I don't catch myself singing LITTLE PINK HOUSES or all the other tunes from John...it's just so fitting when in the US!

Yes, it was. Bought my lil pink house out on the hwy that I had passed so many times as a child, & as a teen while Little Pink Houses was playing on the radio. It’s scheduled to be torn down early next year, property tax is now more than its worth, unfortunately. Last of its kind in Texas. 😢

he was born in Oct 1951 ... if this video was from 1981 he would have been around 29 - 30 years old here .. I know when his first hit and real album came out he was already married and I think he had a child already (I might be wrong) ... I always loved John thought he was a cutie when I was in my teens and early twenties had a poster of him on my wall .. and always thought he did not look his age .. he is awesome live saw him live to many times to count love you John !

Johnny Cougar takes me back to my teenage years in the 80s! I showed Pops the liner notes to Scarecrow when he was blasting my teenage music and so forth.. He understood.. that was cool and He got it.. very cool... Thank you John for writing music that matters... Tim S. I remember the farm aid days.. My Grampa farmed til he was 90 He retired and dropped dead one month later. He loved what he did..

Great performance. I cannot imagine how many times the choreographer had to make his band mates practice both to keep from laughing at themselves and to somewhat synchronize their moves. Gritty real voice of Johnny Cougar. He did stumble on some words but recovered in stride.

i recently lost my life long bestest friend to a series of strokes in a matter of 2 days she had 12 or more strokes in the hospital and who knows how many before me n her fella forced her to go to the e r! there is a life time of music that we shared over the 4 plus decades that we had each other there side by side through good better and the worst. when john first came on the scene he was john cougar and her n i went to 4 concerts in a 6 week span. mind you we were young teens then! but we hitch hiked to them and we slept in bushes to be out of sight for ppl to not be assholes while we were asleep! we shared so much w/ each other and i miss her so bad in hurts to my soul to not have her here but no matter what i have memories of our crazy ass ways of doing life! i love you sherry and always will!

The fads, the fashions, the movies, the music, MTV actually played videos back then, & had the original MTV VJ's...Martha Quinn, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter, Nina Blackwood, & "The Prince Of Darkness "J.J. Jackson. JUST ABSOLUTELY THE GREATEST ERA/DECADE OF MUSIC & POP CULTURE TO GROW UP IN!!! Much love from Mobile Alabama.

I was 14 yrs old in 81. I remember watching Saturday Night Live when a new singer, then called "Johnny Cougar" made one of his earliest TV performances. John slips here at 3:05 with the words. "Well I don't wanna come home …" Instead of "I don't even know if I'm doin this right..." But he recovers nicely. Gotta hand it to anyone who sings live though. Many do not today.
