Fantastic video !! I’m torn between these two JD’s for my home mowing needs. About 3 acres worth of mowing. I saw on your website you said the 1025R does a much better job mowing compared to the 2025R.... can you elaborate or make a video about it? (Within the next 5 days) haha ;) Thanks so much in advance.

Hi there. Thanks for this video ! Very interesting ! Question - I see the 2025R listed on John Deere's official website. Will this model be a 2019 or 2020 model ? I thought with each year they would change either the model number, or change specific things ( upgrade ) thanks for any info.

I’ve seen some older Deere compacts have problems holding the bucket at a certain level while loaded. They slowly leak down. Has that been addressed? Or does that lockout lever help?
@GoodWorksTractors
5 жыл бұрын
I've had John Deere, Kubota, Kioti, LS, New Holland, all do that. Some models better or worse than others, age doesn't seem to matter, can't find a rhyme or reason really. Maybe just physics? The lockout lever isn't really tied into the hydraulics. The lever just prevents movement of the joystick from opening a valve.

That was a very nice over view. Did i hear you say correctly that both these models were "2014" yrs??? I bought the 2017 1025R last fall with 1/2 hr on it, lol. Mine is the FILB with the 54" auto connect mower deck & i also purchased a set of pallet forks as well. I sure do love & enjoy my lil Johny. This lil guy is a God send for sure. My uncle enjoys the heck out of it as well, lol. The 260 backhoe is kinduh a pain in the @$$ to hookup & take off, but does digging really well. With this being the yr 2018, is the H130 loader still out there on the market anywhere? Would it be "hook up" compatible with the 1025R????? I realy like in your video the "height" comparison between both H120 & H130 loaders. The 6-7" difference in height on the H130 from the H120 is awesome! I wish the H120 had that 6-7" higher lift. I believe the reason for the higher lift could possibly be, maybe, longer loader arms on the H130 loader??? Or a longer cylinder reach??? Thanks for sharing this video. That was an awesome job in the comparison of the two tractors. Take care.

What is that control knob located in the middle of the 2025R floor board? It looks like the command cut control knob on the new 2032R and 2038R. I have a 2720 which is a bit older, but I don’t have that control knob.

Good Works Tractors that’s what I thought it was. However, I didn’t know that feature existed for the 2025R or 2032R. I adjust the height of my mower deck using the 3 point hitch height control level. I know they also sell an option to use your loader control valve to adjust the height, but I’ve heard mixed feedback with it. By any chance do you know the part number of that deck height control on your 2025R?
@GoodWorksTractors

Yeah, I feel like I had a 2032r a few months back that controlled the same way you're referencing. Yes, they also sell an independent hydraulic lift kit. I did a little searching, but couldn't locate the part number. I'll keep looking though.

Here's a video comparing new style vs old style. kzitem.info/news/bejne/2a-g3YB3koaIg2U I own a small tractor dealership and sell primarily pre-owned equipment. The 2 Series has been redesigned, but I'm not comparing new tractors. I'm comparing 2014 model year 1 Series vs 2 Series. However, the 2 Series was not redesigned until 2017, so this would apply to anyone shopping for a 2016 and older 2025r. The 1025r is still currently being produced. Just like used cars, there's thousands and thousands of folks looking for a "new" used tractor. That's who I was hoping to help. Several aftermarket cabs are available for the 1 & 2 Series by Curtis, Mauser, Tektite, Sims, Cozy Cab, and more. Neither can come with a factory cab if that's what you mean? Thanks for watching and for the feedback!

Sir, what's the overall length of a 1025R from the front of the bucket resting on the ground to the back of the backhoe attachment? Also how much space would you save if you positioned the backhoe to the right or left for in barn storage?
@GoodWorksTractors

Not positive as I don't have that setup in stock right now. I'd imagine somewhere around the 14' mark with the backhoe stored to the side.

One thing you did not address is the 3 point lift height. Limited on the 1025r, significantly higher on the 2025r due to the larger rear tires. Similar to the difference between the 2305 and the 2320 in the previous series. A rear blade has to be mounted level if you want to angle the blade. Almost impossible on my 1026r. I end up with about 2" of ground clearance and will not clear my street curb. I plan to rebuild the mounting points which will in turn limit the depth of cut. Not critical since I use it for plowing snow.

Thanks for the video. I’m shopping sub compacts. And I think I want a good used 1025r with loader and 60” belly mower to replace my 920m zero turn on my 6 acre property. This helped a lot. One thing I have learned is a lot of these little tractors are made by the same people different color paint an name but made by the same. Not all but a many of them are.

Hello, I went to the dealer the other day to look at a 1025, I looked at the 2025 while I was there. It was explained to me that the 2025 is just a bigger version of the 1025. Same loader and backhoe. If that’s true what’s the benefit of spending the extra money for the 2025? Thanks
@GoodWorksTractors

Hi, that is true for the brand new, redesigned 2025r. It is kind of a "tweener" machine. That is not true for the previous generation which is the version shown in this video comparison.

I never have even SAT on a tractor, but looking very forward to starting a new life on a future rural homestead in eastern Oklahoma moving from San Antonio someday. I have learned A LOT from this excellent comparitive analysis on these two models that look and sound almost exactly the same. Especially the point you made that the other tractor has a higher psi than the similar model while the hydraulic capacity was close to being the same. There is indeed more to comparing tractors than just looking at the specs (like only HP) at first glance!

The advantage that's NOT MENTIONED in this video is that Deere uses the SAME EXACT ENGINE in the 2025R tractor as in the 1025 R.Its a 24hp.3-cylinder 1,100 CC Yanmar diesel.To me the 2025 R is somewhat"underpowered"and the weight to hp.ratio is much better on the 1025 R.

Generally, you might see some issues during the initial setup of the AutoConnect parts. They need to be aligned perfectly. However, once aligned, there's generally not many issues. I have had issues when I've taken an AutoConnect deck off of one tractor and put it on another. The bracketry needs to be readjusted for the new tractor as well. Congrats on your new tractor!

I thought you did a good job looking at both tractors. My neighbor has a Kubota about the size of the 1025, I can hear the wine of the pump coming from a mile away. But it does a good job for the size tractor. I have a 2015 2032r with loader and backhoe. I wanted a tractor to match an older JD model 650 4 wheel drive. No comparison to the older tractor. I have owned it since new an have used it from digging stumps to moving trees to my sawmill. I have gotten used to the narrow width of the rear tires, it feels a little bit top heavy turning on a slight incline. But the overall power, feel and use in about 160 hours of use has been flawless. I try not to overload the little guy and keep loads low. The secret of this tractor is take your time and let it work with you. To pull stumps I start digging out to get the roots first then work inward. I have dug a 3 foot deep trench for the power line over 300 feet long (they want about 7 dollars a foot for that plus pipe up here, you do the math). It took about 6 hours and there were roots and red clay soil. Water line was only about 2 feet deep and 200 feet at about the same price. I have been using it daily to help me build my cabin and I have no complaints at all. I plan on having this little guy for years to come. It will help me build my shop next a 56 by 80 building. I will make a boom pole to help me lift the walls. I am curious to see how it does in a few months. Power steering and hydro drive are great also. I hope this helps.

Follow up, I got a plate for the front of my tractor from Titan and built my boom pole. Not used it yet but I now have a 12 foot boom pole on the front of my loader (17 feet to the end). I hope to lift my 250 lb trusses with it. I also plan on lifting the wall sections with it. Look at RR Builders on how I plan to do this (they are great). I work by myself, I hope this works. Just take your time and make it happen.

Quick question, on the 2025 are those dual brake pedals for digging (stopping one wheel while turning)?
@GoodWorksTractors
6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they are so that you can turn tighter. You used to primarily see it on larger utility and row crop tractors for turning in their fields. There is a bar you can drop to connect the right and left pedals which is how most folks leave them anymore.
@OkieTony
6 жыл бұрын
Yea, all of the tractors I have had were larger, and much older with the single brakes where the diff lock is located on the left, as well as the right side. I just saw what looked like dual pedals and had to ask. I have a little 1025R now since I'm not doing anything large anymore. It's fun for my little property. Thanks for the reply.

I have a 2016 2925R that I use 116 hrs /yr on average. I find that the 62D mower deck with the high lift blades does a beautiful job mowing evenly. If anything the irregularity that might pop up is due to the width of the mower deck making it very sensitive to tractor tilt. I use the front forks which are quite heavy by themselves so the extra lift from the 2025R is valuable in this regard. The drive-over deck is kind of a pain hooking up but I got over it and can pick it up in about 2 min. The engine is great, easy starting and mostly good power. Folks hardly ever complain about having too much tractor - Grinning broadly. Fueling is a pain in the butt with the fill port on top. I like the fender fill port on the 1025R. I think the 1025R is great for the homeowner but for my hobby farm, I needed something larger. Sometimes I even wished I had a 3035R. Overall I can't imagine not owning one of these nice tractors. - Running: Front forks, Front snowblower, mid-deck fine cut mower, rear rough cut mower, rear landscape blade, box blade, rear chipper, ballest box, and quick hitch.
