You missed the backhoe thumb. :) It's a must IMHO. Can't imagine not having it. Check out the Bxpaned stuff. I'm going to upgrade my bucket system to the BX stuff. Quick detach, ripper, 6" bucket, nice thumb. Nice machine! I have the original 2025R. The 2038R is SOOO much nicer and bigger. I'm thinking about upgrading in the spring. 'Thinking'.

Also like to comment on the sideway facing you set the lights up by seat. Light up areas to the front SIDE of the tractor, instead of just overlap on the two grill headlights. Great idea. I see more new construction size backhoes with two light facing offset to sides.

Awesome tractor great set up hydraulics etc. I have a 1025R that I being a machinist. I manufactured some upgrade add-ons myself it’s a great tractor i’ve had it for three years and it hasn’t let me down yet. The only thing you should take care for is where you welded the bucket hooks. It’s a weak part of the bucket, and with lifting it has a tendency to flex back-and-forth and crack so over the years. I would move the hooks on the bucket area, where the quick disconnect slides into at the top of the bucket where there’s an extra band and reinforcement of steel And I’ve maxed it out more than 10 times and never broke nothing other than that great tractor I’m happy for you and you might want to consider repositioning your bucket hooks.

Hey thanks for stopping by! Regarding the hooks, I actually just bought the JD fab works top plate with hoops hooks and a hitch receiver to go in that area. It will reinforce and strengthen that area significantly I’m sure. But I will have to relocate those welded on hooks before I can do that. I will take a better look at the area you’re describing and probably move them out there. Thank you for the great suggestion!

@@NewMoonRanch unfortunately that plate and bolt on area is a bucket and fatigue point as well and failures are common. Wishing I could send you a picture of what worked for my demolishion man dad I welded on in 2007 which never failed. I’m here for you

I picked up my 2038R in late August after ordering back in April of this year. The long wait was mostly due to wanting the turf radial tires. I could have gotten a tractor earlier but the radial tires was something I wanted to try. I too got the third, fourth and fifth hydraulic valves but did not get the power beyond as I was not planning for a back hoe. I may regret that decision down the road as it will be much more expensive to add it later. It probably would have added very little labor cost when the tractor was apart for all of the other hydraulic line installation. Unfortunately, I have run into a serious problem related to the third function valve. I purchased a Curtis Advantage cab with the tractor but am going to do the installation myself. I installed one on a New Holland compact tractor several years ago and it was not that difficult. My dealer wanted close to a grand to install so I chose to do it myself. The right pillar, or main front support, can't be installed as it interferes with the hydraulic lines to the third valve. My Deere dealer has been in contact with Curtis Cabs and they are trying to figure out something to make it work. For those who get the Deere third valve and want the Curtis Cab they should consider the third valve, or diverter, from a different manufacturer. W.R. Long or Artiallian mounts their diverter on the loader rather than the tractor.

Wow! That’s some excellent and helpful information! I hope you get it all sorted out soon! I know it’s going to be super cold up here in the winters. I’m hoping some heated clothing will make it tolerable with not having a cab!

Congrats on the new machine! The 2038 is an awesome tractor and most consider it the ultimate of the compacts. You have it set up very nice with the options you chose. I noticed you added wheel spacers too! I also noticed how clean your tractor was on delivery. I do believe you have a very good dealership, and all the added options looked very professionally installed. You're fortunate to have a good dealership. Enjoy!

Thank you so much for showing off your new baby. WOW what a great job you did on fitting it out. I got those same front treads on my backhoe, mine is TWO wheel drive, but they basically wanted to get rid of them at cost. What made you decide on that Size (JD) there are so many sizes that (JD) makes. What was it about that size that sold you. YES if you are an owner operator get the different options you want.

I got quoted a 2038r with backhoe, dual rear SCVs, 60d mower deck, 3rd function, AV20F grapple. Financed 84 months no interest tax emempt and $750 dollar deliver fee for 56,538 plus insurance. Does that sound reasonable?

Pretty close to what I got mine for. No grapple, but I got a Box Blade, Forks, and the Backhoe.

Oh yeah, for sure! If you watch my first video in the series, when I went to pick it out, I kind of touch at least on why I went with the bigger 2038R over the 1025. And I’m sure happy with it!

I just got my 2038R a few weeks ago and noticed there is no dust/debris screen in front of the radiator, like on my 2025R and 1025R , is this normal? Why would JD not put one on a 2038R? Other than that, I love the 2038.
