I use to plow snow for a living. I believe in a rear mount snowblower on the 3 point. You can move a lot of snow with a snowblower but it’s so slow whether your driving forward or backing up. I always pinned the plow to the loader. If you get the tractor stuck bad their is a good possibility that your not getting out on your own. I could use the loader to get myself out with the blade or the pusher or the bucket. If your plowing in a blizzard I always wanted to keep all my options open. A snowblower can really work a tractor hard when you are in the snow depth that you was in. Take care and stay safe 😀

You sure could have used that blower in the video I saw last night, plowing with a Fisher that was a tad too small for the amount of snow. The plowing was faster though. Is this down home Maine?

I’m not sure what is considered down home Maine. I live in western Maine. Was the Fisher plow video one of mine or someone else’s?

You are moving rather slow. Is it because of the height & width of what you are blowing or the size of the blower requires that you have to move at that speed? I have a X595 with a 47" blower. I move at about half speed with less than a foot of fresh fallen "dry" snow. Wet snow, same quantity; I move at about 1/4 throttle. Thanks for the video, you have one hell of a set up. I bet your wearing a tea shirt with a cup of coffee in hand! Coffee I can do, tea shirt in a Boston snow storm on an X595 would be tough to pull off. Once again, great machine!

Yeah I’m moving slow because that was a snow bank that was pushed up by a truck from the beginning of winter so it was frozen solid. I’m never in much of a hurry I’d rather take my time and go home in one piece.

TB Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, couldn't see that frozen snow bank. Incredible how your machine can move that much frozen snow, months later; without a hiccup. Safety should be first on every one's list.

Brendan, what you are moving is nothing like what is in this video, and you should never be running engine speed at 1/4. for the health of the engine and the hydraulic system always run engine wide open.

how wide is that, 8 feet? looks about as wide as the front end. great setup you have, between this and the plow
@TB-jj9tu

8 feet wide 4 feet tall, the drift cutters are right around 5 feet tall. made as a rear mount blower it is heavy on the front and uses twice the fuel so I use the other tractor and plow more.

Much easier to operate with the Front Mount. There appears to be a separate outlet for discharge, low to the ground. Is there a name for that?
@TB-jj9tu

If memory serves me right it’s called side discharge. It was an option on this blower and it is hydraulic so I can shoot snow out the left, right and out the chute. I have another video showing the side chute in action. It can discharge more snow faster out the side but you need a lot of room because there is no aiming where the snow goes.

silly question. You mentioned the blower takes a lot more power? But comparatively aren’t you moving a hell of a lot more snow more effectively?
@TB-jj9tu

I have actually made a short video that shows the fuel consumption that I’m waiting to add to a longer vid. The plow uses around 2 gallons per hour at 1500- 1700 rpm at 6-8 mph. The blower uses around 6 gallons per hour at 2300 rpm at 1 mph. All moving the same amount of snow.

It has worked great so far, I really only use it to power the snowblower but I’d really like to get a flail mower for the front sometime soon. The one I have was made by LaForge.

Do you have an idea on how much pto hp is being output at the front? I know that it's less than the rear (from what I've been told), but how much of a difference.
@TB-jj9tu
Жыл бұрын
I’m sorry but I don’t know what the difference is. The front PTO is direct right of the crankshaft on the engine and mine is geared to 1000 rpm. I stopped running my blower on the front because I wanted to be able to carry the blower and snow plow at the same time. what I have noticed is that the rear pto has noticeably more power but not a huge amount. I’m sure that the power is more manageable through the transmission than it is directly of the crank. I’m currently looking at getting a front mount flail mower.

@@TB-jj9tu I bought a 2015 6115M out of Quebec with a front 3pt and pto. I may just remove and sell it. Previous owner did have an 86" blower on the front.
