Excellent video, clear and comprehensive, thank you for posting and sharing your knowledge. I'm helping my son troubleshoot a 1997 Turf Gator that quit running. He got it for free(ish) and needs it at his property. Someone added a push-button start and disabled a few of the safety switches. Thank you again, Joe

Excellent learning experience. Showing the graphic display was very good and I have wondered how those worked. Thanks!

Thanks for the video. I will pass your info on to others. And will more than likely send you some questions. I have a client with 6 JD mowers, tractors & gators for a quail ranch. So a little bit of everything

Nice vid, working a military gator 6x6. Can you talk more about the primary clutch and how to remove and install a new one. I have located the belt from a internet site. I had to cut what looked like to be trot line wrapped around the center pulley. This is a diesel engine...thanks

Thanks, great video. Mine has a similar problem, had been hard to start, but once started. would start instantly all day. Has spark and wets the plugs with gas. will check the valves and compression, might just be that gear. Tries to start, back fires some, but won't start now. Thanks again.

Sounds like a lack of air at the right time. When the gear goes, it usually follows that progression. Quick dirty test is to disconnect the battery (safety first) and pull the valve covers. Slowly turn the engine over by hand and watch valve movement.

@@ScienceOfDiagnostics ok just got back to working on gator 6x4, fly wheel key, ok. checked valves, open and close. doesn't seem to be a problem there. Pulled side plate to check cam gear, has metal gear, not plastic, timing marks line up perfectly. Any further suggestions? Thanks William

did all things suggested, has metal gear, pulled heads did a valve re-seat job, putting back together, did not see anything that was bad enough to stop from starting. Working on it when time permits. See what happens when get it back together/ Thanks

My gator 6x4 gas motor overheated and now turns over very slowly. I replaced battery, checked cables and put in a new starter. Still barely turns over even with plugs removed. See.s like smoked barring or scared cylinders to me. With plugs out shouldn't flywheel spin easily? I'm thinking get a replacement motor with core trade for $1250? Thoughts suggestions??? I had the same problem it was that the timing chain was broke and you have to take it off and if the valves were damaged then you couldn’t use it and had to buy a new motor.
