My favorite job was chopping sileage when I was a kid, Dad would let me say home from school. We had a single row Gehl cutter with 60 some HP Oliver tractor. Top speed was maybe 2nd gear most of the time it was low gear. We thought we really had something, I just can't understand how these new machines can eat that much. Love your videos, brings back a lot of memories

its been a tough year here in minnesota for farming too. Couldnt get into the fields till late last spring, then rained about every 3 or 4 days so couldnt bale hay without mold, which would make the hay buyers complain, then this fall the soybeans were combined small and were soft and squishy, now its been cold and many farmers have corn in the fields and 4 inches of frost in the ground so will have to wait till spring before plowing.

With all of the snow on the header it sure looks like you had been out plowing snow with it instead of chopping. What a hell of a growing season your trying to survive from, a wet spring to a even wetter harvest. It had to be snowing pretty good to have the snow build up on your coat like it did for the short time you were out of the cab. Was your brother able to get the soybeans out of the field yet or do they still need to be done? Thank you for today's video, I always appreciate the time and effort you put into them so we can see what your days are like.

Great video young man and well done for making these videos its been great to watch! Surely the quality of the silage will be affected by the snow on the crop going into the clamp and then on the clamp prior to getting it all in and sheeted up? I hope it turns out good but it will be six weeks or so before youopen the clamp and know then how good it will be I presume? I buy my corn frozen but its from the supermarket and for me to eat though!

I'll bet the engineers that designed and tested that head and chopper thought they ran it in,every conceivable scenario , but somehow I doubt they ran it in any snow!! Looked like it preformed pretty well except for the feed roll issue , much better than trying to shell it , cause you know what a disaster that turns into!! I had heard you could use a crop off of the prevent plant acres for forage so didn't work out bad for you !! We had snow here last PM bitter cold wind today ! Hope it straightens out so you can get your beans and shelling corn out ! How many lives does that drone have ya think ? Thanks for the video !

Hey Andy, That's something I've never seen before. I've leveled and packed the silo edges before they outlawed being under the blower pipe back in the 50s. Hope ya get it done without any grievous incidence.
