Love the sound of those old G's, so long as their carb and magneto are on the same page. Thanks for posting

You are right. There has NEVER been a tractor that sounds as mean & cool as a "G". Not even larger John Deere 2 cylinders. I remember back in the 1960's my uncle was pulling a large Roan disk & it got dark. His is a 1947 he bought new in July of 1947 & then he ran it on kerosene, after the sun went down there was a flame on top of the stack about 2 feet high & you could hear that "G" for miles. A friend was home over a mile away & he told me the next day he really enjoyed hearing it pulling hard. Also by 1965 his G had a straight pipe. The one in this video, you can tell, is clucking though a muffler. Still sounds good. We had M Farmalls around & an Oliver 70 with a 6 cylinder engine was up the road. Just noise that wasn't enjoyable to listen to. But that "G" made music when it was pulling a big disk or a plow.

This is a good example of how to watch what is going on when plowing. The man is watching the plow to make sure he has the right depth, to make sure the bottoms haven't tripped, the plow hasn't broken, there are no obstructions, and he's headed in the right direction. Also, the G is moving right along with lots of power and it sounds great!

In 1959 distillate sold for .13 per gal. The 17 gal tank cost 2.21 to fill up and lasted about 4 hrs doing field work.

I've been in love with the sound of the 2 cylinder models since I first heard them . I've worked on several model A and B . I'm reasonably impressed with these old machines .

Alan Estes I guess you've never heard a straight-pipe D then. Sweeter music was never made.

This is the same outfit that my dad owned on his farm. His was a '52 G, and he had the same Model 55H plow. The tractor didn't have to work very hard because the guy my dad bought the tractor from had bored the engine and put M&W pistons in it. It dynoed at 63 PTO HP.
