Sounded and looked good. Big improvement over the earlier 440s.

I ran a 440B as a teenager, awesome machine!!! My only complaint was where they put the dang winch control behind my left elbow. That hydraulic fluid gets wicked hot, the steel housing got just as hot. There was a little plastic shield, but it was too small.

Nice! Grew up pullin main line an setting chokers behind one just like it. I think she's a 1965 or 66 440A. the B's looked the same but had a diff hub, trans shifter, blade and butt plate design.

that's not a B its a 440a --- small log bumper , open rops on the sides , and the B had a turbo .

It is a 440 not a 440 B you can tell by the ends of the axles and the rolls on the arch head probably a 1967 or 68.

markbuilt I’m the most passionate Deere hater alive and even I’m not afraid to say that you inherited a solid, dependable workhorse. Don’t be afraid to see what she’s capable of because she might just surprise you

Has a cap that bolts on end of axle,if it gets loose then the hub gets sloppy on the splined axle and both wear badly, one of JDs mistakes

Easy fix with epoxy. Did it 20 years ago still holding on both sides
