Thanks G. Nice encouraging video on simple maintenance/fixes. Boy did you set off the way-back machine...won't go there with a long and colorful story of my first mower and Dad buying a Toro when I left for college. With Simple maintenance and fixes, things (particularly older machines) will give their best for a long, long time. Nice work Bud! ~PJ

+pjsalchemy Thanks PJ! LOL, good to know the time machine is still working! Agreed, especially so for older machines. I used to get all my mowers and wackers third gen hand me down so I got pretty proficient at getting/keeping them going. Take care, G.

+Dev Ogle That I do Dev! I see no sense in trashing something if the cost of parts and some labor are less than a replacement. Not to mention, I like the challenge no matter what it is...lol. The fixers, like us and others, seem to be a dying breed- but we're still hanging on! Agreed, take care of them and they will last a long time. Take care, G.

+James Lester That's cool James! I hope it's an easy fix. My Dad's had pretty much the same problem this one did. But, if I recall correctly, I believe the bolt that holds on the bowl had holes near the bottom and top on the sides. The one(s) on the top is/are really small though. I did find a picture that's similar. Might be of help! Good luck, G. www.justanswer.com/small-engine/4bnzf-toro-model-38570-snowblower-recently-drained.html

Mower sounds great. Luckily, I too have a source of non-ethanol gas. More expensive than ethanol but far easier on carbs. I run my small engines dry or use a fuel stabilizer with a fuel shut-off valve. Thanks for the video.
@ghostses
8 жыл бұрын
+Gary Hodgin Thanks Gary! Yeah, I think the cost difference far outweighs potential damage, parts, labor, etc. On seldom used tools, like a chainsaw, I empty after use and run them dry. Personally, I've never used a stabilizer. I do think a shutoff should be on every piece of equipment so they can be ran dry- by default from the factory. That way, when I have to go into them to fix, I don't have to plug the line or pinch it off...lol. Perhaps a movement is in order! Take care, G.
@gary31753
8 жыл бұрын
+ghostses Yeah, I go a bit overboard with the stabilizer. I use it in both 4 cycle and 2 cycle engines. Just add it when I fill my gas storage tanks. Really don't need it for the 4 cycle, but sometimes a gallon of 2 cycle (grass trimmer and leaf blower) last me 4-6 months.
@ghostses
8 жыл бұрын
+Gary Hodgin I wouldn't say that. You did give me something to think about though. Until now, all I had here were 2 stroke engines at 32:1. So I never have it sitting around for too long. With a 4 stroke now in the mix, I might have to change my thinking. I might start mixing small quantities for the 2 stroke as needed since I won't be burning it up in the mower. Or Stabilizer might be a new item on the shelf...lol. Take care, G.

+ghostses Wouldn't hurt anything. I buy my 4 cycle gas 2.5 gallons at a time. One ounce of Stabil per fill up. Stabil fuel stabilizer runs around $10 with tax for 8 oz. at Home Depot. I probably use a little over one to two bottles a year, mostly in mowers, but some in blower and trimmer. I have some 4 cycle equipment that I only use a few times a year and they're the main reason I use it in the 4 cycle gas. I could get by without it in my mowers. I use them a lot and get gas about every two weeks or less.

I had the same problem, had too take a small wire & clean out that bowl bolt holes. Also I can't get the float off because the pin holding it on is IN THERE & I don't want too break off the metal arms holding the pin on. I've sprayed it with everything I have but it seems like it's frozen fast ? Tried tapping on it with a small punch but NOPE, SHE'S IN THERE GOOD N TIGHT. Can't even get a pair of needle nose pliers on the pin.

It might not be a problem to leave the float, needle and seat where it is if you can't get the pin out. If it seals- no problem. G.
