After you do all that, I guess when you mow all you need to adjust would be the scalp wheels correct? My adjustment rods on both sides are at the very end

Yes, correct. John Deere recommends adjusting the scalp wheels so that they sit 1/8” to 1/2” above a level surface depending on where the mowing height is set.

@@DIYBoomers I think my last question is, you leveled the blades at 3.5 inches, the manual says to do it at 2 1/4, does that really matter to do it either way. Thank you again for your help...

@benk4881 You’re welcome. Looks like the manual has two different methods that they suggest. The first method is stating 2 1/4” because it is telling you to lower the deck down onto 2” blocks. That’s the only reason they’re referencing 2 1/4”. The second method outlines using the gauge that I used. In this method, it states setting the deck height to your preferred height. So as I mentioned in my answer in the other thread, it doesn’t matter what height you use when you’re using the gauge, but I would suggest 3” or 3 1/2” as demonstrated in the two videos that I referenced. Below are the links again. Hopefully that clears up the problem for you. Off subject but i notice you have a nice little pond there, i didn't know if you ever heard of Purple Martin Swallows birds that eat flying insects, you have a nice spot to put up some houses/gourds for them. They're very pretty birds.

Yes, my wife is familiar with the Purple Martins and has pointed out houses that have been placed at city parks that we frequent for walks with our dog. Thanks for mentioning it. That’s a good idea to put some houses up.

I purchased my John Deere S130 in the Summer 0f 2021. It had the factory quick change oil system installed so I removed it and installed the John Deere factory oil filter conversion kit (oil filter, adaptor plate for the filter and, the extended tube for draining the crankcase). The problem I have is when draining the oil, the crankcase drain tube isn't long enough to clear the tractor frame and oil get's everywhere if I don't use rags under the drain. I noticed you had an oil drain hose attached to the crank case of your tractor and I really like it. Is that a John Deere accessory or did you purchase it somewhere other than from John Deere?

It’s actually a Briggs & Stratton Drain Hose. I assume that you also have the Briggs & Stratton 22 HP twin engine on your S130. If you do, that engine has a slot on the drain side of the engine that is designed to hold the clip that is at the top of the drain tube. The hose is a bit too long, so you need to cut a little bit off so that it fits evenly behind the side panel cover. Check out my conversion video, link below. I really like it too, it makes changing the oil so easy! Briggs & Stratton Drain Hose part #594200. Link to it on Amazon below along with link to my conversion video. Oh yeah, the connector for the engine block is the Briggs & Stratton Hose Connector, part #796532, link also below. www.amazon.com/Briggs-Stratton-594200-Drain-Hose/dp/B017650GL4/ref=asc_df_B017650GL4/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=216532910363&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3211241938460288827&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9022344&hvtargid=pla-348901613502&psc=1 www.amazon.com/Briggs-Stratton-796532-Hose-Connector/dp/B002WNW970/ref=pd_aw_fbt_img_sccl_1/140-1791346-1818740?pd_rd_w=bTc5G&content-id=amzn1.sym.4cfab56d-e6a8-460e-901d-c2904e3a6838&pf_rd_p=4cfab56d-e6a8-460e-901d-c2904e3a6838&pf_rd_r=MS2RT4KHYJT7EERFWWWB&pd_rd_wg=HL0he&pd_rd_r=3d7c0b85-7522-4928-a899-8b27cc206baa&pd_rd_i=B002WNW970&psc=1 John Deere Easy Oil Change Conversion with No Oil Spill (Almost) @DIY Boomers kzitem.info/news/bejne/uJilsHaoq5xig6w

No problem, you’re welcome! Just a note that you’re probably aware of with the work that you’ve already done - when you install the hose connector into the crank case, don’t over tighten it. The engine block is cast aluminum and can crack if too much force is applied when inserting the connector. Just get it nice and snug.
