I just bought one 5 days ago. I've got 2 acres to mow. I cut my mow time by 75 percent. I love it....

Got that same tractor last summer. Couldn’t be happier with it. We started our homestead so it cuts 3 acres of grass, but it’s also our general labour work horse. The 10p cart holds tools, seed, soil, rocks, kids, you name it. Next winter, the blower and cabin cover might be a good purchase. Picking a farmers brain about tractors, this was his recommendation. He said, “You’ll cry when you pay for it, but you’ll never shed another tear.” He wasn’t wrong. My only complaint is that the turf tires aren’t great in the snow or other slick surfaces. Grippier tires or maybe chains would fix that.

I love my X380. I'm 4 years in and have zero complaints. When I got mine they gave me a nice John Deere trailer to go with it and an oil change kit. I would have loved getting that front bumper too. The one thing I see on yours that mine doesn't have is the lid to the glove box on the right hand side.

You can buy extra springs for under your seat and it'll make it a cadillac.

I bought an X370 last winter with a snowblower and a bagger and I absolutely love it. I share your concern about the power steering, but got talked into it (and I must say that I really like it... at least for now.) I have less than an acre so it is probably a bit overkill for the mowing, but I have a fairly long driveway and live in Maine, and it does a fantastic job of dealing with the snow. The gas doesn't last as long for me, and I'm guessing that probably comes down to the hydraulics putting a bit more load on the engine.

7:02 that's the gun holder so you can keep a pistol handy in case Rex the neighborhood mad dog tries to jump the fence and knock you off your tractor. and of course right in front of it is the beer holder.

I wouldn't go in wanting power steering. Now, if I had a chance to test drive, then I'd probably get it.

Not sure which trans axle you have but none of the X380's I have seen are easily serviced. No drain plugs, you have to remove the transmission and invert; no access to filter without opening the case and how do you get the magnets out?
@comander7681

I have a plug on mine that gives me access to suck the fluid out if I need to. Also you can just unbolt it just like you service any truck rear diff.
@denali9449
Жыл бұрын
@@comander7681 Okay, maybe. That plug you refer to gives access to only one of the two sumps, so yes, you get some of the fluid out but not all. If you do it repeatedly you will eventually get about 90% of the fluid replaced. As for servicing the transmission as you would a truck differential, I (and I am sure many others) would like to see a video on that process. Are you talking about unbolting it from the frame?
@comander7681
Жыл бұрын
@@denali9449 yeah you take it off the frame how else would you do it? It's not like it's rocket science. Well maybe for some it would be difficult but not for a mechanically inclined individual. How about this when I do it I'll post a video. I only post videos when I do stuff that may help someone so it might take awhile but when I do a full service I'll post a vid and you can see it.

@@comander7681 Have R&R'd many a John Deere transaxle and while I never relished doing it, it was more time consuming and messy than technical. It was just the way you casually brushed it off like it was no more difficult than putting gas in the mower. I was a bit concerned that some guy that got a set of wrenches for his birthday and the mechanical aptitude of a gopher would take on this project. I have had to rescue a few folks who got in way over their heads on these transaxles including one who split the case to "drop the pan". That was a mess. I really wish the Deere had charged their customers a few more bucks for a mower that included a readily serviceable unit. Tuff Torq makes them for other OEM'S.

Should I still get something like this for my 1/4 acre city lot?
@comander7681

This is a bit overkill For 1/4 acre. Personally you could probably get an electric mower for that small of a lot.

If you want a commercial grade mower for a lot that small a walk behind from Hustler may be a option they have a 36 inch deck that would be great for small yards

This mower is too big for 1/4 acre but if money is no option and you want it, go for it. It'll probably take you 15 minutes to mow your lawn.

Sure if you have a decent size plot like say 4 or 5 Acers. but if you only have a few acres of land its not as big of a deal. You can afford to cheap out on power steering. The x380 is is pretty much a really decent mower for a 2.5 Acre lot. I think if I had 5 or more I would be in a different serries. also personally I don't want to service a power steering system from John Deere if I can avoid it..
