Sir if I'm not wrong Flecknoe was actually a writer ,an Elizabethan dramatist .... Richard Flecknoe 1600 - 1678,who was ridiculed by Andrew Marvell because he was not a good writer ...there was no doubt he wrote a number of plays perhaps (18)and some little poetry as well. He was not worthy as a writer.

Dryden here projected Richard Flecknoe as the king...the monarch of Dullness and father of Thomas Shadwell (he is prince and son of Flecknoe)
