Context is everything...this song swam in the same era as the return of rockabilly, the knowledge of Billy Idol, the popularization of new punk rock and it's a damn good song.

I know. I looked and looked for it thinking I imagined the song and video back in the 80's, but I knew that wasn't true. Long before George Michael and his leather jacket and tight jeans in his Faith video there was John Eddie and Jungle Boy. Who knows? This video may have inspired George Michael's.

I've seen him live countless times, and I can recall his doing this song only once. I get the sense he's got some resentment for how he was marketed during the 80s as "the next big thing". It says a lot that his first self titled album uses the E Street Band as his backing musicians-his record company was trying to make him out to be the "next Springsteen". Hopefully he'll get around to doing live shows again; he seems to have gone into cold storage since COVID.

I remember when this album was released. The record label was ALL IN on this guy with ads on TV, MTV video rotating this stupid video, and major record stores like Warehouse, Tower, and Sam Goody had this guy's poster in their stores. The music is outdated for 1986. This was better suited for release either in the late 70s or early 80s when Mellencamp, Springsteen, Money, and Journey were rockin' the white dude singing in blue jeans look. Bryan Adams has all the qualities and better songs AND he played guitar.

If you're just a buff then you probably know 30% of what came out in the 80s. I remember this guy and he was a bust but he was heavily promoted by his record label. The song and look are all wrong for the time it was released. American listeners were already embracing L.A. Hair bands (Motley Poo, Guns 'n Poses), Hip Hop/Rap, and more refined bands and solo artists like Sting, Phil Colon, Toto, Chicago/Peter Cetera, and British Rock/Pop bands. This guy should have been on Shanana in the 70s, nothing more.
