I've heard this story retold a number of times, but never in this much detail. Hard to believe Favara had the balls to smile at Victoria Gotti, especially while having the cogliones to have a backyard party. Horrible story that like you said, I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Thanks for another great one, Mooney!

yeah but Favara didn't know what to do , he was going to go see Victoria at the wake to pay his respects , people came to him and told him to stay away , no matter what he did it was twisted in a way to make him seem un-remorseful, in fact he was distraught , it was an accident , Johnny Gotti wasn't going to hurt him until Victoria as vengeful as she was basically pounded him until something was done , Favava wasn't drinking wasn't speeding only driving home from work it could of happened to anyone myself or my father or brother. Killing Favara didn't make the pain go away Victoria , but you just caused pain to another family,

Yea total bullshit about him being belligerent after hitting the kid. He was devastated! People forget he definitely cared about the kid cause he was good friends with his son, slept over at his house & they played football together. The daughter told the bullshit story about him yelling who’s gonna pay for the damage to my car the kid caused & then throwing a party taunting the mother. She used to say he was drunk but she stopped with that lie. How anyone could even consider this a lucid recounting of what happened is as absurd & ludicrous as the daughters story! The guy was destroyed because of what happened! He tried to go to the house & apologize but the mom attacked him with a bat! Thankfully someone here knows his shit & informed everyone that John actually knew it was an accident & didn’t blame favara but his wife wouldn’t stop. Horrible situation all around BUT do not believe any of that bullshit!

THE MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE OF JOHN FAVARA John Favara was a furniture factory worker who was last seen on July 28, 1980, as he was leaving his place of work. According to witnesses, they saw people beating Favara and heard tires squealing away from the scene. No trace of the 51-year-old man was ever found, and he was declared dead in 1983. Favara and his family lived in the middle-class neighborhood of Howard Beach, Queens. Months prior to his disappearance, Favara was involved in the accidental death of a neighbor's child. According to New York Daily News, Favara was driving back home in the afternoon of March 18, 1980, when he accidentally hit a 12-year-old boy riding a bike. was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead soon afterward. The boy was Frankie Gotti - the son of John Gotti of the Gambino crime family. The Gottis lived behind the Favaras, and their children were known to play together. When the incident occurred, Frankie's mother claimed that Favara was drunk when he hit her son. However, an investigation into the accident concluded that Favara was not at fault, as Frankie carelessly rode out on the street at a blind spot. No charges were filed against Favara (via Where's Mamba). WHAT HAPPENED TO JOHN FAVARA? After the incident, John Favara attempted to apologize to the Gottis for the accident, but he was met by Victoria DiGiorgio, Frankie Gotti's mother, swinging a baseball bat. Favara also received multiple death threats, and his car was vandalized with the word "murderer." At that time, John Gotti was rising the ranks of the Gambino crime family, and Favara was aware of his reputation. Favara decided that it was best for his family to relocate. However, he disappeared before they were able to move, as reported by Where's Mamba. For years, no one had a clue about what happened to Favara, but many suspected that Gotti had something to do with it. The Gottis were questioned, but according to New York Daily News, the couple was on vacation at the time of Favara's disappearance. DiGiorgio said at that time, "I don't know what happened to him but I'm not sorry if something did. He never sent me a card. He never apologized. He never even got his car fixed." In 2009, court documents that were filed in Brooklyn revealed what may have happened to Favara. According to the files, he was allegedly murdered on the order of Gotti. During one of the trials of mobster Charles Carneglia, a witness testified that Carneglia shot Favara and disposed of his body in a barrel of acid, per The Seattle Times.

Thanks for all the details of this incident. It had some things (the finger bones in the soup) but told the story well. I wonder if he dragged the kid after he hit him. Good to see where it all happened. I do remember your earlier video about the hole, too. Thanks for including it in this one.

@@NEUTRALDROP I was just telling my son that my dad was like that with my brothers. Mini bikes, Mopeds, dirt bikes & thank god we lived in the country. Back when NJ had some. But the funny thing is my dad was no gearhead & he grew up in the Bronx! Didn’t even have a drivers license when he bought a house there. Took the bus back & forth to the city.

Lol that’s exactly why my parents never got me anything with a engine on it. They knew I wouldn’t follow rules and probably going down one ways and all that stuff. I was spoiled growing up but that’s one thing they NEVER got me.

Regardless of all the stories told about how John Favara was killed or all the hearsay of how he acted, it's pretty clear he didn't kill young Frank Gotti on purpose. It really was an accident and a terrible tragedy. The big mistake was John Favara should have gotten out of that area very soon after and stayed quiet. Another great ride along Mooney..as usual.

The biggest shock with this story is I had no idea their back yards faced one another. I'm assuming they were not neighborly if Victoria called him a drunk. I did hear Favara got a lawyer and the lawyer told him not to have any contact with the Gotti's. Maybe if Favara had gone to the Gottis with hat in hand .... As always Mooney you do your homework and legwork with excellence. :o)

@@justtalldave I can believe that. She was out of her mind with grief. He was responsible for this grief and that's all she could see. My understanding is the boy was dragged 200 ft. before he stopped his car. If true...as a mother I can understand her reaction.

The family knew each other and their kids were friendly. Absolutely no one outside of the Gotti family has ever accused Favara of speeding, being drunk, or carelessly dragging the child. No one. From everything I have read from the same writers you guys probably have, Favara was remorseful about what happened.
@playboymaxim

This guy (Favara) was basically between a rock and a hard place. Do try to reach out to the Gotti family and offer your sympathy and remorse, or do you just drop everything and get out of town. He was screwed no matter what. Over an accident.
