I think the best part about this song is the timing. There is just something really unique about how this song is composed, and how John sings the chorus a fraction of a second later than the beat. It’s mesmerizing.

FEEL is something that can't really be taught. I mean, it can be, but the singer has to embrace the way they really want to sing a song as opposed to what might be typical or expected. But those subtleties are what make an artist as opposed to just a singer.

This should have 500+ million views after all these years! I was a KFOG intern (iconic SF radio station) in 1995, and the best experiences from that era included working with BB King, Ben Harper and John Haitt. This song has always been a gut punch. I’ve found myself listening to this song, over the years, repeatedly, for an hour straight, when my soul needs it. What a beautiful tribute to these strong & amazing women, John. Looking back, today, I realize that I’ve rooted for you, these women and children for 1/2 of my life, now, and want nothing more than to know that they’re doing well. Thank you, again.

The first time I heard this song, I froze. Very few songs have lyrics that grab you by the throat and make you listen. What an ode to the power and pain of love and the hurt beyond expression that makes you want to scream from the depths of your being "Love did this to me!" But it still works, I have been happily married to the same woman for 44 years!

My undying love for Mr. Hiatt’s music and approachable, easy going personality brought me here. Easily the nicest musician I’ve ever met. Exact opposite, I didn't hate Season 4 of AD but found it extremely lacklustre in terms of writing compared to S1-3. I get what Hurwitz was trying to pull of with his 'non-linear character focused format', but ultimately it was a blunder.

A moment of steel A dry-eyed house Did he say goodbye to you Or did you kick him out I know you're not afraid To go alone But this was a marriage of spirit, flesh, and bone Now whatcha gonna do When the planet shifts Whatcha gonna do Gonna slit your wrists Bleed all over the milky way The stars in your eyes look red today [Chorus:] Cry love, Cry love The tears of an angel The tears of a dove Spilling all over, your heart from above Cry Love, Cry Love The trust of a woman in his hand But he was a little boy, not a man You loved him stronger than he could feel Yeah he was wrapped up in himself like an orange peel Now whatcha gonna do With the booze and the blush Whatcha gonna do When there's no rush Cop a little misery At the corner store Well' one day that train of pain won't stop no more [Chorus] Throwning up ashes on the floor If this is a lesson in love Well what's it for? The heart will remember The burning fire The next time you feel the flame Of desire
