John has had a wonderful and fascinating aviation flying career including as an RAF Pilot, Instructor, Commercial Airline Pilot and of course British Airways Concorde Captain. They discuss his life, his aviation career and his book, The Wind Beneath My Wings: John Hutchinson Concorde Pilot.
This is part six of nine in the John Hutchinson interview series.
In this instalment, John Hutchinson talks about BOAC and the early days of Concorde. Captain Nick asks about what could have been with further commercial supersonic aircraft ideas. John explains how British Airways acquired the Concorde and how the aircraft came to change the airline thanks to two individuals.
Concorde flying into New York JFK airport is discussed as is British Airways using the Concorde for charter operations and round the world flights.
Ryanair is even thrown into the mix as Nick asks John about disruptive passengers and John recounts tales some bizarre incidents while he was a Concorde Pilot.
