Not one person will ever be PAUL. His: Talent Looks and Class Personality Plus Musical, writer/performer, Poetic Respected Loved and Loving How grateful I am to have lived in this era. At Age 14 in 1964 when they~~~ The Beatles ~~~ arrived here for Ed Sullivan’s show I had no idea how music would change forever, no idea. I lived and loved it. At age 20 I stood in line at my college bookstore for The Abbey Road album; and as I walked my 4 blocks from campus to my apartment I remember feeling such joy that day. Life was good. 🎹🎹 🎉🎉😊

I seen some big stars live, Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd, Prince, David Bowie, Rolling Stones.. but McCartney was the only time I saw a "star" and immediately started to cry. I remember thinking "he was the partner of John Lennon" and there was no coming closer to my all time hero than seeing McCartney. I didn't even really care what songs he played that night. Just getting to see him in the flesh was worth the ticket.

Seriously hate reading all the hate filled comments, why does there have to be a war between Lennon fans and McCartney fans, I love them both. I love all the Beatles Music, seriously they wrote a lot of stuff together, and even when they didnt, the creative juice of both of them was there and made their songs better, something that will never be repeated. So enough of all this BS, and just appreciate what this is......A friend paying tribute to someone who is no longer with us. And enjoy the timeless music that is THE BEATLES
@dlh7989
10 жыл бұрын
You'd think the fans would learn from John and Paul's mistakes and all their BS and pettiness about "who wrote what, who gets credit for what, he said she said (she said)" and realize it doesn't matter. It didn't matter then and it's mattered less and less to pretty much nothing as The Beatles have truly become the stuff of legend over time. What's absolutely certain is Lennon and McCartney have immortal legacies, together and separate, and whether Paul says John wrote Help! or Paul wrote Help! or Ringo wrote Help!, WE know John wrote Help!, EVERYBODY knows John wrote Help!, and as much as you can laugh at or get angry with Paul, call him petty, pathetic, yell at him for grabbing a bit of credit as he is wont to do, in the end, Paul included Help! in the medley because he wanted to pay tribute to JOHN LENNON. No matter what he says or however he happens to phrase even the tiniest things off the cuff (which the small but intensely vocal, insecure, and unforgiving portion of Lennon's otherwise pretty awesome fanbase never fail to pick apart for their routine Macca character assassinations)...he obviously recognizes that it's a John song. Period. Some things are worth complaining about, but there should seriously be no problem here. Paul can say whatever he wants, but again, at this point, everybody knows the history and the credits backwards and forwards and I'm sure he realizes that. No doubt that he can be a royal douchebag and spout off arrogant bullshit even to this day, but like that's anything new with The Beatles (well, actually Ringo was always pretty cool, always going around wearing his shades and flashing that peace sign, love that guy!). Fact is that for all Paul says in this interview or that interview, he ultimately has never shown anything but the utmost respect for John's legacy, as a person, as a solo musician, and as an essential artistic voice in the greatest fucking rock band of all time. So...what are we arguing about?
@lorettanajarian529
9 жыл бұрын
Dylan Burgess You said it all very well. Paul ALWAYS had respect for John, despite the differences. Those issues were the result of John's pretty heavy drugging, but in the middle of it all he still wanted to play and write music with his best friend. I watched the 2015 RRHF and was touched and a little saddened that 2 Beatles are no longer with us. When you grieve for someone as close as those 2 were, the grief goes on forever - it changes a bit, but it is always there. I was thinking how great it would have been if all 4 of them could have been on the stage together, like Green Day, and hear all the love and applause directed at Ringo, but also at the band's longevity. I just find the whole thing so very sad.
@occamsrayzor
7 жыл бұрын
The simple answer is that they're not fans, just petty little non-entities with a manic desire to be "right". I've followed the Beatles since day one - literally (yes, I'm an old bastard). John Lennon and Paul McCartney, like everyone else on the planet, were/are complicated individuals with multiple layers of personality, flaws, foibles. They had fights and disagreements, and in their personal lives some low points. None of that matters, and it makes their music all the more rich and timeless. The music of Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starr has been the soundtrack to my life, and will last far beyond me and everyone else here.

He's not lying. Paul and John co-wrote almost all of the Beatles material. Even if it wasn't always half and half they would still bounce ideas off each other all the time and weren't particular about who deserves more credit for this or that song. Officially the composition label for most Beatles songs reads "Lennon/McCartney", which you'll see printed on the page if you were to buy say a chart or sheetmusic of one of their songs.
@ipsurvivor
7 жыл бұрын
Throat Yogurt - it varied from song to song... Yesterday is all Paul for example... Sometimes they quibbled about who wrote what... like exactly how much on On a given song. They collaborated more on the earlier material. Paul admitted to this about this arrangement quite early that a song could be all John but he would still get the co-write. Then it became less common has time went on... Or it would be something like John Lennon telling Paul he should keep the line about "the movement on your shoulder" since Paul wanted to replace that line but John thought it was the best line in the song and he thought it was about him and Yoko... But that's not song writing but advice... but he was correct.. that line kind of makes the song deeper... a lot of it we will never know exactly. Their arrangement was smart though because it helped them keep a monopoly in the group and it was a brand name like Rogers and Hart... It was intelligent of them to foresee the value of their arrangement... It also helped them benefit from getting paid when tastes leaned towards Lennon's work as in the 70's and 80s and then when later criticism favored Macca... I view them as equals with different tendencies but the Idea was brilliant on their part... and showed the trust and respect they had for each other...

People making comments about Paul "losing his voice," are being really insensitive and downright trollish. What do you think popular musicians of today will sound like in their SEVENTIES????? Oh wait! We won't be hearing the music of today's "top artists," [I don't want to name names so as not to make people mad for "hating" on pop musicians of today], but it's true. But people doing this need to realize that this man, along with his mates, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, made THE MOST influential music of all time...music that today's most popular performers STILL credit for it's influence on their own (Prince, Michael Jackson are two quick ones). I can assure you, the Beatles's influence will live on and never fade. Musicians just keep coming back to their music.

Charles Pruett you gotta remember most people are truly stupid n that the highlight of a lot of peoples' week is going down to the corner shop n hearing ol Jeb rev up his pickup or when cousin carl does them a solid by leaving the trailer curtains open while he humps little Suzy's brains out. No but seriously people are dumb McCartney's band and voice have been top notch especially since 2002. During the 2000's he and his band were better than at any time since the seventies. You could tell he didn't practice much with his band during the eighties n nineties and talent wise his current band is lightyears better. So yea his voice may have trailed off in the last couple years but for the last fifteen years or so he's been at the top of his game.

I know both my grandma's have told me that they are somewhat tone death at almost 70 years old. They love music and one is now relearning piano. Paul McCartney has been writing and performing music for most all of his life. For him to be over 70 years old and still be involved in creating music and touring is quite amazing. His voice is only aging as does everyone elses

His voice was shot for a lot of the "Get Back" tour and the subsequent Tripping album. This was most likely due to over-rehearsing beforehand. From 2002 onwards his live vocals have been amazing!

Again... if you don't like Paul, or the Beatles or prefer "wwezyy or drack" go listen to them on their sites and dont come on these sites and upset people that enjoy these sites. I grew up with the Beatles, enjoy this music and miss John, who we lost so horribly, and George, who we lost horribly. Go someplace else dawg. or GIVE PEACE A CHANCE! I am crying....do you hear the crowd after Paul stops still singing?

I saw this line up in Atlanta, Georgia in 1993 and they were amazing. I wouldn't take anything for the memories that night...definitely one I will never forget. The band Paul has now is awesome and I think probably one of the very best he's ever had. ROCK ON PAUL! I LOVE U!

Paul was a tremendous talent, player, singer, songwriter, entertainer. When he and John worked and played together two great talents became enormous. They were a bit like two sides of the same coin. Some John numbers Paul contributed to and some Paul songs John contributed to. This might be only a little bit or nearer 50%. The sad thing a few years back was when Paul went through a phase when he started to claim he did everything in the group. Don't know why. Yoko said it was sad that he felt so insecure at the moment that he felt he had to do it. Hopefully Paul seems to be over that. John was no saint but he only ever made statements about how much he did on what songs AFTER Paul's declaration. Before then he used to say "That's one of Paul's" Even if they had worked on it together. All You Need Is Love is described very clearly by George Harrison, Ringo and George Martin as "One of John's". Only Paul very reluctantly agreed and even then added a "Well mostly". Your too big for that Paul as was your old muka (pal) John. Just remember what you both did TOGETHER.

Kohl423 In the Beatles Anthology he clears up the question of who wrote how much of a song. And the way John and Paul worked it, the person who wrote the majority of the song sang lead. It's easy to criticise Paul because he still with us. John was a shit after he got with Yoko. She started him on heroin and it took him 5 years to get clean - in 1974. The reason Paul and John were friends again was because of May Pang...Yoko NEVER encouraged that friendship, and say what you want but she contributed to the break-up of the Beatles. Once John got with her, she was at every recording session (because John wanted her there), and the other Beatles understandably resented her presence.

Kohl423 You have to remember that Paul was responding to the song that John wrote that included the line"all you ever done was yesterday". Paul was trying to carry on without his best friend, and he was getting slammed for trying to create without John. Yoko fueled that whole exchange. True, Paul did take credit for alot, but by the time the Anthology came out he was much more honest.

Regarding your comment that Paul "went through a phase when he started to claim he did everything in the group." I have never seen anything remotely like this and I've been tracking things pretty closely. Can you please offer a specific source for your assertion?

Kohl423 well I mean I feel like McCartney had some more contributions towards last 2 years of the Beatles. But Lennon was heading in more directions than just music as to McCartney was at his prime from 68-75.

I think this is "Friends of the Earth Tour, and I went to it in Dallas and it was anything but uninspiring. That was a concert from the moment he walked on the stage you inhaled and didn't exhale until the next day. There are no words to describe Paul McCartney "live' I have been a Beatles nut since age 2 and he took me by surprise. His stage presence, no words,still gives me goosebumps to think about it and know that I saw the greatest musician that will ever be.

In 1992, on a business trip to Israel, I wrote "give peace a chance" on a slip of paper and placed it in a crack in the "wailing" wall. That year Begin and Arafat shook hands in the Rose Garden. For a time it seemed magical, but was a brief shining moment ....
