Wow, he seems so warm and personable here. Keep in mind this was during his separation from Yoko. I lot of people in a lot of books say he was a different person during this period, that it wasn't as 'lost' or traumatic as he later said it was. Miss him.

I've read that this was his 'Lost Weekend' period...sure seems together and happy to me...can't imagine (lol) why, was a millionaire, on a break from his wife for a while, barely into his mid-30s, ANYTHING he wanted was easily bought and brought to him...this period would have been IDEAL to reunite with the other members...Paul's solo stuff sucked a$$ compared to the Beatles and John knew it...if only...

John sounded sincere when he said that hearing the song Yesterday cheered him up when he came to the game. It's still a Lennon- McCartney tune, even if Paul composed it. It seemed like it was the first football game he had ever been to, an unfamiliar environment to him, so hearing the tune probably made him feel at home.

"OK, Giffer, over to Giffer, bye bye..." Perhaps the greatest farewell in Monday Night Football history, and only topped by his statement on football: "...it's an amazing sight, makes rock concert look like tea parties." IF THAT doesn't endeer you... I sincerely hope Mr. Lennon got to see many more games and learn the rules of football before his tragic demise...hopefully he threw a football--and with Lennon, every throw would've been spiralling through the sky (with Diamonds!) ;) RIP

Lennon had won his battle with the Nixon administration over being allowed to remain in the country (Nixon had resigned earlier that summer). He loved New York, and was tremendously happy to be permitted to continue to live there. The album was "Walls and Bridges", which contained the hit single "Whatever Gets You Through The Night". By then, it seemed John's ill will towards his former bandmates had pretty much passed. His relationship problems with wife Yoko were over, too; son Sean was born the following year.

I believe this is the same night Lennon met Ronald Reagan (The Gipper). Lennon's personal assistant from 79-80 said that Lennon met Reagan at a sporting event and had a really good time together. ***** Lennon was against everything Reagan was about. He was just being friendly. Reagan raged class warfare against the country. He destroyed the middle class, and turned what once was a country of unity, into a country of greed. John Lennon would never have voted for Reagan. Those reports were all exaggerated. It was the damn Republican Party that tried to deport Lennon in the first place, until Carter came into office. Don't be naive.

I regard Lennon's murder as the greatest individual tragedy in modern history. He really was just reaching the prime of his life, and I believe he still had some of his greatest music to write. And were it not for that nameless piece of shit who stole his life, I believe The Beatles would have reunited and recorded and toured again, probably sometime in the 90's. It would have been the greatest thing in entertainment history, and would have made the Eagles reunion look insignificant.
