Congratulations to John Lynch for being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame!

John Lynch was really good athlete and determined. Very rarely was he out of place on defense. He played very very smart football. He understood the game at an extremely high level and played it that way. I wish him well in all he does. There are ball players that have their notoriety on the field and there's others unfortunately have notoriety off the field. He saved it for the field. He is a class guy and deserves the best.

As a 49ers fan, I have to agree. I love great football and was a fan of Lynch and other greats from other teams. Ronnie Lott has a similar story, where many of his highlights would be illegal today. Then again, the game is better for it.

Not trying to rub it in but what did you think of your team's Superbowl appearance? When the chiefs won I thought I'd be full excitement but it was honestly a mehhh what ever game.
@PaulGaither

@@gamesforfun3680 1. I am happy to have seen my team go through two successful rebuilds into competitors. 2. The game itself was another lesson in "the right way to win". • SF built their team from the inside out with a strong defensive front 7 and a reliable secondary. Despite the conclusion, that defense held KC to 10 points, intercepted Mahomes twice and sacked him 3 times with under 7 minutes to play in the Super Bowl. It is difficult to ask for more. • The 49ers offense was also "built the right way". They were the #2 rushing team in the NFL despite have zero pro bowl offensive linemen and no "feature back" running the ball. Just the best FB in the NFL and arguably the best TE, as Kittle is one of the best run blocking TEs of all time already - dominating the opposition - and last year broke Travis's single season record for receiving the same week he set it. We are a questionable push off call away from making a critical play in the Super Bowl. Oh, and Jimmy didn't see him wide open on two different plays to torch that KC defense. • I give Mahomes and that KC all the credit for their win. Chris Jones took over that 4th quarter up front, swatting two big passes, stuffing one run and pressured Jimmy once or twice. • On the other hand, Kyle Shanahan didn't call a good 4th quarter. After back to back interceptions, you have to run the ball and milk the clock. They had 4 runs in the 4th quarter: 5 yards, 6.5 yards, 1 yard, and 17 yards. They saw a 2nd and 5 after a 5 yard run and called two passes and punted. They got the ball back, up 3, and used only 1 minute of game clock with a series of downs which went pass pass pass punt. They were down 4 and ripped off that 17 yard run and got to the KC 49 with 1 minute 49 seconds to play and two time outs... and called 4 passes in a row. You have to run on 1st or 2nd down there, move the clock and set up a shorter 3rd down. You have the time and a short field to keep pounding it and take a late lead with less than 30 seconds to play, or lose with your offense on the field. You cannot go pass pass pass pass turnover on downs and let KC score again to seal the game like that. • So, again, they were built the right way. They had KC where they wanted them. Then they forgot that they were the #2 rushing team and were averaging 6.9 yards per carry at the end of the 3rd quarter and we're only "stuffed" twice (the other 1 yard run was a TD from the goal line and not a stuffed run). Finish that game the way you got there and beat Green Bay. Run it at them and make KC stop you. Sigh...

@@PaulGaither Everything looked solid for the 49ers except that 4, horrible coaching lost it for them. I mean you basically summed it all up. Although I agreed with that push off little attempted was a little harsh the more I watch it the more I see how much leverage he gained in that push. Tough call though. I figured Kansas City defense would have have got ran over with y'all's run game but like you said passed when they should have ran more. Sammy Watkins stepped up though and made a few nice catches. Heard Sherman could be moving to safety next year???? Just a rumor... What are your thoughts on that?

5:26 is a small example of why the NFL has improved in some ways. By today's standards, the play would have been blown dead with the loss of the helmet and while hey do not play touch football, that is a dangerous play if you force Lynch to launch himself at that man. No reason for it. That is also why the NCAA kills a play when you go to the ground. It is a game. It can be violent yet played with levels of safety.
