It depends. Do you want to play bluesy stuff like Slim Harpo, Little Walter, and Sonny Boy Williamson? Then get one in 'C' for your songs in G. You'll want to look up how to play cross-harp. If you want to play like Bob Dylan, John Mayer, and Neil Young, go for a harmonica in 'G' for your songs in 'G'. This is straight-harp and usually for melodies. Look up JakeKnowsHarmonica on KZitem if you need more help. Excellent harp-player.

It worries me that you think this relaxed style is 'Lazy'. This music is much better wrote than the older stuff. It has obviously drastically changed in terms of the style; but the quality of writing and playing has vastly improved.

If the song is in the key of A then youd use a harmonica in the key of E. With harmonicas you dont necessarily play the same key as the song.

Similar fingerpicking pattern, but the riff isn't the same. The progression is different, too. This is predominantly using I, IV and V. Speak For Me is quite a bit more harmonically different. All that aside, it's just good seeing him sing again

I'm glad that he is back again. If you listen carefully, it can be easily distinguished the difference between his latest live performances and his new performances. He is even able to sing better than he sang before. It's obvious that he got rid of the illness which was making his voice husky and rusty. We wanna hear your heroic guitar solos again JOHN!!!

In further notices on my last idea, your condescending tone does not develop your argument. You are both stating he is the best of a generation that you seem to be confusing drastically. As a human being he has made a growth as an artist. This sound is obviously not lazy. Not to mention what he has grown through in the recent years quantitive to his singing abilities. His expression simply has changed. By pop standards is making a presumption that is a fallcity. This music is growth..
@SebastianMDigital

Just to put a stop to your naiveness..if you are to be a supporter of an artist you must understand a transformation is being made. Referencing Bob Dylan...clearly one of Johns biggest influences is a poor choice. He himself made the transformation reverse of Mayer interestingly enough. John Mayer isn't in his early 20's any longer. He has grown past that stage and his metaphors as well as music structure is vastly changed from being a pop star in the major screen 24/7.

Actually if the musical key is A then the harmonica key should be D. If the song was in the key of E then you would use a harmonica in the key of A. You had it backwards.
