42 yrs ago my husband and I fell in love, this was our theme song! There was one slight change, we had to sing it as “Luke & Diane”. Lol! Only 9 short years later he died from a heart attack brought on by PTSD from the Vietnam War.

Yes but do you think about what that means? I mean, it is so profound and most people realize it at different times under different circumstances. But yes there are still some good times, but the thrill of living being gone means we've come to the realization that this world, this life, is not what GOD intended. I pray for HIS return.

Yes. Thank God the 70s and 80s are long gone becuase so many people thought that "partying" was the main goal in life back then and all it did was make people unable to cope when times get tough. People today are much more consciouss that partying all the time gets you nowhere and can hurt you in the long run.

@mcwilliams3357

@@sheldonwalton5905 It's the lyrics. If you just read them--- they're horrible and some don't even make literary sense "Diane' debutante backseat of Jackie's car" Plus, it starts in the "heartland" and Jack's gonna be a football star-- (just ignore the horrible word choice for the Tastee Freez stanza) then he wants to run off to the city and then want the "Bible Belt"-- which is not synonymous with the Heartlanad to "come and save [his soul" The song doesn't really tell a story-- it's just a collection of words. The only thing redeeming is the catchy tune and refrain.
